Nurse Practitioner (Full-Time)

The OVMG PRIMARY CARE – Nurse Practitioner is responsible for providing examination, treatment, and comprehensive medical services for primary care patients in collaboration with the supervising physicians.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Reviews patient file/record, including allergies, problems, history and physical, medications, and immunization status.
- Completes physical examination and records information about patient’s medical history and physical status.
- Provides episodic preventative acute and chronic healthcare to patients.
- Orders or executes various tests, analyses, and diagnostic images to provide information on patient’s condition. Analyzes reports and findings of tests and examination and diagnoses condition of patient.
- Administers, prescribes, educates, and advises the patient on medical issues and treatments as indicated by their agreed upon plan of care.
- Determines and prescribes medication, dosage and schedule given the patient’s condition and allergies based upon best practices.
- Discusses any possible side effects to medication or immunization with patients.
- Promotes health by advising patients about diet, hygiene, and methods for preventing disease.
- Refers patients to appropriate medical resources or specialist consultant services when necessary for patient’s well-being.
- Evaluates the effectiveness of medical care and monitors progress of patients.
- Documents in the medical record of the patient’s visit including medical history, physical exam, diagnoses, procedures completed, plan of action, etc.
- Completes minor procedures within their scope of practice.
- Responds and oversees care during a medical emergency until a patient is transferred to the next level of care/emergency medical service providers.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience in high volume/high stress environment, which demonstrates ability to multitask.
- Successful completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program with an active Ohio licensure with restrictions and a Certificate to Prescribe.
- Must be board-certified or board eligible by the National Board for Nurse Practitioners.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize and complete tasks in a timely manner.
- Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Must be able to work under pressure.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers.
