Your role:

Job Responsibilities:

1. Lifecycle Management (LCM) for electrical/electronic components used in G&B products – Sustaining Engineering

  • Monitor and mitigate risks related to component obsolescence, compliance changes, and supply chain constraints.
  • Evaluate alternate components, perform component level, PCBA level and Finished Goods level testing & verification and drive qualification and BOM release activities in collaboration with the design and manufacturing teams.
  • Support in executing the relevant activities to achieve cost reduction, Quality & reliability improvement and compliance initiatives across product lines.
  • Ensure smooth transition of design changes into manufacturing with minimal disruption.
  • Maintain documentation and ensure adherence to Philips global standards and regulatory requirements.

2. Tester Development

  • Hands‑on expertise with measurement instruments (oscilloscopes, multimeters, logic analyzers, spectrum analyzers)
  • Proficiency in embedded firmware development and communication protocols (I²C, SPI, UART, CAN, USB)
  • Programming and test automation skills (Python, LabVIEW, MATLAB, or similar)

3. Engineering & Root Cause Analysis

  • Component-Level Analysis
    • Read and interpret datasheets for ICs, passives, motors, connectors, and power adapters
    • Assess form‑fit‑function (FFF) equivalence, technical limitations, and risks/opportunities
    • Evaluate impact of component changes on design, product performance, manufacturing, and ongoing production (including obsolescence risk)
  • Circuit & PCB Evaluation
    • PCB layout and design, PCBA schematics, interpret PCB/PCBA layouts to identify design weaknesses.
    • Analyze Gerber files for routing quality, grounding, power distribution, and EMI/EMC considerations.
    • Provide feedback on design robustness, manufacturability, and reliability.
  • Testing & Verification (Very important)
    • Ability to execute the component, PCBA, key-module and finished good level testing and verification
    • EMI/EMC testing on the bench and also in test facility
    • Knowledge of statistical tools for interpreting results and developing confidence
  • Failure Investigation & Defect Analysis
    • Perform systematic defect analysis on returned products using diagnostic tools (oscilloscope, multimeter, spectrum analyzer, etc.).
    • Apply structured problem-solving methodologies (DoE, Ishikawa, 5 Whys, Fault Tree Analysis).
    • Correlate observed failures with design, component, or process issues.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering with 8+ years of experience
  • Strong understanding of electronic components, derating analysis, circuit theory, power electronics, and EMI/EMC concepts.
  • Knowledge of PCB design/layout tools (Altium, Mentor Graphics), simulation testing (LTspice).
  • Experience with EMI/EMC testing methods and Test Standards - IEC 61000 & CISPR standards (Household Devices) and IEC 60601-1-2 (medical)
  • Hands-on experience with simulation and diagnostic tools for PCBAs (LTSpice)
  • Knowledge of simulation testing of Motors, Li-Ion Batteries etc. is an advantage
  • Familiarity with structured problem-solving methods (DoE, Fault Tree Analysis, 5 Whys, Ishikawa etc.)
  • Proven project coordination skills with cross-functional teams and clear technical reporting ability.
  • Passion for problem solving at the intersection of design and manufacturing.
  • Ability to stay calm under tight deadlines
  • Good communication (verbal and written) and inter-personal skills


How we work together
We believe that we are better together than apart. For our office-based teams, this means working in-person at least 3 days per week.
Onsite roles require full-time presence in the company’s facilities.
Field roles are most effectively done outside of the company’s main facilities, generally at the customers’ or suppliers’ locations.
