Salary : $37451.00

 

Benefits: This is a full-time state position that provides a percentage of matching contributions to employees’ retirement plans, 11 holidays, and a minimum of 15 days of annual and sick leave per year. The state also offers a comprehensive benefits package, including a benefit allowance to offset the cost of insurance premiums for employees and their eligible dependents.

 

Basic Purpose: This position is responsible for daily operations of the museum’s gift shop.

 

Essential Functions:

Sales:

  • Assists customers with item selection and finding specific items in the store
  • Process sales in POS system, including cash handling and credit card processing
  • Processes online order sales in POS System and takes orders over the phone
  • Packs and ships orders sold online or on the phone (or in store, as needed)
  • Processes phone or in person ticket sales
  • Helps patrons with membership sales and renewals by processing transactions
  • Processes product returns or exchanges
  • Calculates sales, totals, and taxes when POS system is offline
  • Processes admissions fees, provides patrons with admissions stickers, maps, and provides an overview of museum features

Inventory:

  • Performs an inventory count of selected vendors by month each month
  • Cross-checks inventory counts
  • Organizes inventory in basement storage and museum store back room as needed
  • Helps ensure that all products are on the sales floor as needed
  • Identifies expired or damaged inventory, completes necessary associated tracking paperwork, and removes items from inventory
  • Receives and processes inventory as it is delivered (including pricing and marking all items)
  • Moves inventory as needed and implements markdowns of merchandise as authorized by the Museum leadership.
  • Ensures all information in the POS system is correct for each item
  • Adds relevant items to the museum online store and notifies supervisor when items are low in stock as directed by supervisor
  • Creates displays of inventory

Communication:

  • Notifies supervisor about visitor complaints, requests, or suggestions
  • Notifies supervisor when maintenance or cleaning needs to be done
  • Provides patrons with general information about the museum, the area, and the state
  • Answers general OKNG Museum phone calls and directs them to the appropriate person
  • Answers museum store phone calls and provides information as well as conducting sales
  • Takes messages for supervisor

Promotion:

  • Keeps all OKNG Museum/Tourism information stocked
  • Promotes OKNG Museum programs and services to patrons
  • Promotes Made in Oklahoma products and product lines

Other:

  • Ensures store is clean by performing light cleaning duties (dusting, sweeping, cleaning off fingerprints as needed)
  • Keeps store supplies stocked/alerting supervisor when store supplies are running low
  • Completes inventory control sheet when inventory is provided to other divisions (approved by museum director or agency director)
  • Advises supervisor about any unusual circumstances or policy violations or safety concerns in any areas of the museum.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities required at this level include knowledge of methods and procedures concerning public contact; of telephone procedures; of spelling, punctuation and grammar, of arithmetic; of the program or services being provided; of laws and rules concerning program or services being provided; and of techniques of training.

 

Skill is required to operate various office equipment including computers.

 

Ability is required to work with customers; to gather data and facts; to keep records; to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; and to provide leadership on assigned projects or teams.

 

Education and Experience Requirements: Education and Experience requirements at this level consist of one year of experience in sales, public contact work, handling and processing mail, or general office clerical work plus one additional year of experience in customer service, mail room operations or technical clerical work; or an equivalent combination of education and experience

 

 Physical Requirements:

  • Able to work at a computer for long periods of time.
  • Able lift/carry a minimum of 40 pounds.

 

Conditions of Employment:

  • Contingent on a favorable NCIC/OSBI background check.
  • Contingent on passing pre-employment drug & alcohol screening.
  • T1 Security Clearance (eligibility for national security positions shall be granted only to persons who are U.S. citizens).
  • FLSA Non-Exempt status.
  • Must maintain a valid Oklahoma driver’s license.
  • Serves a 12-month probationary period.
  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.

The position is located at the Oklahoma National Guard Museum in Oklahoma City, OK.

Employment eligibility verified through E-Verify (Homeland Security), and a National Agency check for positions that require computer access.

 

Travel will be required at the expense of the employee to be reimbursed within 45 days of travel claim. Current policy in place allows for the Travel Coordinator to cover airfare and hotel expenses up front.
