Purpose

Provide advanced technical research, writing, documentation oversight, and project coordination support to project teams. This role serves as a mid-level individual contributor responsible for ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in full compliance with technical, contractual, and regulatory requirements, while driving quality, consistency, and efficiency across documentation and project processes.



Responsibilities

Leadership and Direction

  • Perform work under minimal supervision. Receive direction on assignments, priorities, and deliverables.
  • Lead complex research, technical writing, and documentation efforts, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and alignment with project and organizational objectives.
  • Serve as a subject matter resource in research methodologies, technical documentation standards, and project coordination practices.
  • Proactively identify risks, gaps, and process improvement opportunities and recommend solutions.

 

At the Operational and Company Level

  • Strengthen client relationships through delivery of high-quality, accurate, and professional research and documentation.
  • Provide advanced support in contract compliance, documentation audits, and regulatory tracking (paralegal-style rigor).
  • Partner with Project Managers, leadership, and accounting to support project financial performance, including invoice validation, project budget tracking, and cost documentation.
  • Lead or significantly contribute to proposal development, contract documentation, and pricing activities, including drafting and editing complex technical and administrative content.
  • Contribute to business unit strategy through reporting, analysis, and insights related to project performance and opportunities.
  • Serve as a liaison across technical, administrative, and external stakeholder groups.

 

Do the Work

  • Lead advanced industry, technical, and regulatory research related to fire protection engineering and AEC projects.
  • Analyze and synthesize complex technical, legal, and regulatory information into high-quality written deliverables.
  • Edit and review reports, technical documentation, white papers, proposals, and executive-level summaries.
  • Establish and enforce document quality standards, ensuring consistency, clarity, and compliance across deliverables.
  • Oversee document control processes, including versioning, tracking, and compliance with internal and external requirements.
  • Develop and manage research databases, knowledge repositories, and reporting tools.
  • Collaborate with engineers and leadership to align research outputs with technical and strategic goals.
  • Review and prepare cost proposals, change orders, and contractual documents with a high degree of accuracy and completeness.
  • Drive project coordination activities, including scheduling, milestone and resource tracking, and deliverable management.
  • Support Project Managers in developing and monitoring schedules, budgets, and resource plans.
  • Lead coordination of multiple concurrent projects, ensuring alignment of timelines, resources, and deliverables.
  • Act as a primary point of contact for project documentation, coordination, and administrative functions.
  • Facilitate meetings, document decisions, and ensure follow-through on action items.
  • Ensure all deliverables meet deadlines, quality expectations, and contractual obligations.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy in research, documentation, and project coordination.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, journalism, communications, technical writing, or a related field.
  • Five or more (5+) years of relevant experience in technical research, technical writing/editing, project coordination, or a related role; AEC industry experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience producing, editing, and managing technical and/or contractual documentation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Experience working with data sources, public records, regulatory materials, and research tools.
  • Strong writing, editing, data interpretation, and presentation skills.

Salary and eligible variable compensation (if any) commensurate with experience. Range $95,000 - $110,000 per year and includes a comprehensive benefits package.
