
Vehicle Maintenance Mechanic
Job Description
The Vehicle Maintenance Mechanic is a full-time, year-round position at The Highlands at Harbor Springs. This role operates in a fast-paced, ever-changing work environment and is responsible for the preventative maintenance and repair of the resort’s fleet and equipment.
The fleet includes:
- Heavy equipment
- Snow grooming equipment
- Trucks and passenger vehicles
- Snowmobiles
- Small engines
- Miscellaneous fabricated equipment
The Vehicle Maintenance team ensures the safe operation and reliability of all fleet equipment while minimizing downtime and repair costs in a positive, team-oriented environment.

Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Perform preventative maintenance, diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairs on fleet equipment
- Work independently and collaboratively to complete assigned tasks
- Utilize service manuals, parts catalogs, and technical references associated with repair operations
- Maintain accurate service and repair records for all vehicles and equipment
- Keep the shop clean, safe, and organized
- Communicate effectively with departments regarding repair scheduling and maintenance needs
- Provide personal mechanic tools required for daily work
Qualifications
- Minimum of 1 year of automotive mechanic experience and/or professional training required
- Knowledge of automotive systems including engines, transmissions, axles, brakes, and electrical systems
- High school diploma or GED required
- State and/or industry certifications are highly preferred, but not required
- Valid driver’s license required
- Fabrication skills are a plus
