Research Technician III - Department of Pediatrics (Phoenix, AZ)

Conduct research projects by performing a variety of experiments under primary PI leadership. Develops procedures or techniques for specific experiments. Set up of laboratory experiments or surgeries, including equipment and supplies, disassemble laboratory experiments, and clean facilities after surgeries. Perform and assist with surgeries, preparing animals for surgery, and monitor and maintain experimental animals. Recommend improvements and new protocols and procedures to lab leadership as needed. Maintain laboratory supplies, logs, and record books, aid with troubleshooting and resolving problems and help with special projects. Document information by maintaining daily logs and equipment record books. Keep laboratory supplies ready by inventorying stock, placing orders, and verifying receipt. Maintain glassware by picking-up, cleaning, sterilizing, and distributing. Participate in maintaining equipment by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies, performing preventive maintenance, and calling for repairs. Monitoring and maintenance of laboratory safety, including biohazard materials and chemical waste. Train students and volunteers in lab techniques and safety. Data analysis for publication, and assist with preparation of technical reports, summaries, protocols, and quantitative results. Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading technical publications. Knowledge, Skills Abilities: Knowledge of the principles and techniques of the subject discipline. Knowledge of modern research methods, data collection, and analyses. Skill in analyzing and evaluating data. Ability to effectively communicate. Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office software.
