Job Summary
We are seeking a Part Time, 26-hour Rotating Shift Physician Assistant to join a growing inpatient surgical team at Newton-Wellesley Hospital. Under the clinical supervision of the Chief of the service line, the PA oversees and participates in the care of patients in the inpatient setting. The Physician Assistant performs evaluations, coordinates and participates in treatment plans, monitors patient progress and documents patient care. This role will work with, but not limited to the following surgical specialties:• Acute Care & General

• Ear, Nose & Throat
• Thoracic
• Urology
• Vascular
• Breast
• Endocrine
• Bariatric
• Pediatric
• Gynecology
The PA will have the opportunity to participate in bedside procedures, though the position is not primarily operative. The schedule includes two day shifts each week (6:00 AM–7:00 PM). The rotation is inclusive of weekends and holidays. There is no call responsibility. This position is located on the NWH main campus at 2014 Washington Street, Newton, MA 02462.
Summary
The Physician Assistant (PA) is a licensed provider. The PA is responsible for the assessment and management of various populations of patients, medical and/or surgical, including diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, development of appropriate plans of care and ongoing evaluation.

Essential Functions
-Provides direct care, counseling, and teaching to a designated patient population in the ambulatory, inpatient, operative, and/or procedural setting.
-Performs complete histories and physical examinations.
-Orders, interprets, and evaluates appropriate laboratory and diagnostic tests.
-Develops appropriate plans of care and follow-up based on the outcomes of diagnostic, laboratory, and physical examination findings.
-Orders medications and writes prescriptions according to organizational and regulatory policies and procedures.
-Consistently provides high quality and timely documentation including admission and progress notes, procedure notes, operative notes and discharge summaries.
-Performs bedside procedures as are appropriate to the patient population.
