About the Role:

Warner Chappell Music is seeking a dynamic, detail-oriented finance professional to oversee accounting functions for our Asian territories, based out of our Kuala Lumpur office.

In this role, you will act as a critical bridge between our Shared Service Centre (SSC), the Regional Finance team, and local business partners. You will direct and oversee audit compliance, financial reporting, and core accounting activities. Beyond the day-to-day, you will drive continuous process improvements to ensure complete alignment with local accounting standards, corporate policies, and cost-efficiency objectives.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for:

Procure to Pay (PTP)

  • Expense & Vendor Management: Coordinate with the SSC to manage all vendor payments and local employee T&E claims. Compile, review, and verify approvals and supporting documents against company policies; proactively resolve discrepancies with requestors.

  • Capex Processing: Periodic processing of capex payment requests, including compilation, review of approval and supporting documents and compliance to policies and highlighting and resolving discrepancies with the requestor

  • Payment Tracking: Track outstanding payments, especially relating to writers and business partners, and collaborate with the SSC and business teams to resolve issues

  • Urgent Disbursals: In case of urgent payments, tax and intercompany, process payments directly into banking portal. 

Order to Cash (OTC)

  • Billing Coordination: Coordinate between SSC and local teams for invoice issuance 

  • Cash Application: Review invoicing interface between systems and successful cash application 

  • Ageing & Collections: Review of monthly ageing reports prepared by the SSC. Coordinate collection efforts with the SSC, and escalate unresolved delays to the Finance Manager and/or local business team

  • Bank Monitoring: Monitor bank accounts for receipt of cash from clients and collaborate with local business team to identify the payers

  • Master Data: Facilitate ad hoc client onboarding into vendor systems

Royalties Accounting

  • System Integration: Review data interface between SAP and royalty processing system. Verify supporting documents, such as official tax invoices, royalty files, statements, before routing to the Regional Copyright and Royalties team

  • Writer and Publisher Payouts: Coordinate regular royalty payments to exclusive writers or original publishers of local entities (business partners), including reviewing the final run report, collecting and maintaining records of required banking details and compiling for payment approval process

  • Balance Updates: Review the interface between the payment module to the royalty processing system to ensure timely update of Payee Account Balances 

  • Stakeholder Support: Address ad-hoc royalty payment queries from business partners and coordinate approved advance payments with the SSC

 

Record to Report (RTR)

  • Month-End Closing: Prepare journal vouchers, upload monthly entries into SAP for Finance Manager review, and maintain the month-end close checklist/Risk & Control Matrix

  • Intercompany Recharges: Coordinate monthly intercompany recharges and regular group royalty payables with affiliates

  • HQ Reporting: Perform quarterly Royalty and Revenue Interface reconciliation per HQ policy and guidelines, including comparing against royalty processing system/Tableau reports. Track monthly accruals, actual payments, suspense, and unprocessed amounts. Complete quarterly supplemental financial reporting and disclosures

  • Audit & Tax Support: Assist in compiling comprehensive documentation for external auditors and tax agents for the completion of annual audit and annual tax filing process 

Corporate Accounting, Systems & Tax

  • Compliance: Always ensure strict adherence to all WMG internal policies and SOX requirements. Implement internal controls for accounting procedures and systems, and recommend process improvements for risk management and cost-efficiency

  • Systems Optimization: Support the Finance Manager in system implementations, data migrations, and user acceptance testing (UAT). Set up new customer/vendor master data.

  • Tax Compliance: Prepare local withholding tax documentations and submissions per applicable local tax authorities. Request official tax invoices and certificates of residence for intercompany royalty payments

Key Performance Measurements:

  • Accuracy & Timeliness: Management of the workload in delivering thorough, prompt, accurate, and precise financial workflows while maintaining strict confidentiality where required

  • Compliance: Ensure accuracy in financial reporting and compliance with local accounting standards, tax regulations, internal control and etc at all times

This position requires a minimum of four days per week in the office. We value in-office collaboration and believe it’s essential for talent development and fostering strong working relationships.

Experience and Qualifications: 

  • Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or related field 

  • Extensive experience in finance and accounting

  • Professional qualification of CPA or finalist status is preferred

  • Experience of data analysis with the ability to analyze complex information and present in a concise format

Skills/Abilities Required:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills 

  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to work in a fast paced, matrix and changing environment 

  • Strong communications skills both verbal and written English and Chinese across all levels of an organization 

  • Professional proficienIT skills especially Microsoft Excel, working experience with SAP and Oracle will be advantageous 

  • Technically strong in accounting standards and taxation knowledge

  • Commercial awareness and business acumen

  • Possess high level integrity, initiative and results oriented 

  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills

  • Sound presentation skills, in particular the presentation of financial information to non-finance managers and senior directors
