Sr. Buyer, IT Category – Indirect Procurement

Location: Bangalore, India
Department: Supply Chain – Indirect Procurement
Reports To: Sr. Director, Indirect Procurement Materials

Job Summary

Fluence is seeking a highly driven and strategic Sr. Buyer, IT Category – Indirect Procurement to support the company’s growing global operations through proactive sourcing, supplier management, and category strategy execution across the IT Indirect Procurement space.

This role will serve as a key business partner to internal stakeholders by balancing incoming project requests, managing sourcing activities, driving competitive bidding events, and identifying cost savings opportunities across multiple IT subcategories. The successful candidate will have global responsibility supporting Hardware, Software, Peripherals, Telecom, Audio/Visual, IT Services, and other technology-related Indirect categories.

The ideal candidate is proactive, analytical, customer-focused, and capable of operating in a fast-paced global environment while managing multiple priorities simultaneously. This position will report directly to the Sr. Director, Indirect Procurement and play a critical role in supporting strategic procurement initiatives, supplier optimization, and category growth.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Sourcing & Category Management

• Lead strategic sourcing initiatives for global IT indirect categories including Hardware, Software, Telecom, Audio/Visual, Peripherals, SaaS, IT Services, and related technology spend areas.
• Develop and execute sub-category sourcing strategies that align with Fluence business objectives, operational needs, and cost savings targets.
• Conduct competitive bid events (RFQ/RFP/RFI) to ensure best value, supplier competitiveness, and risk mitigation.
• Continuously evaluate supplier markets, pricing trends, and emerging technologies to identify sourcing opportunities and process improvements.
• Build and maintain sourcing pipelines for new projects and procurement initiatives to support long-term business growth.

Stakeholder & Project Management

• Partner closely with global internal stakeholders including IT, Finance, Operations, Legal, and other business functions to understand procurement requirements and prioritize incoming requests.
• Balance multiple stakeholders demands while maintaining procurement timelines, service levels, and sourcing quality.
• Act as a trusted advisor to internal customers by providing procurement guidance, supplier recommendations, and commercial support.
• Support project planning activities by proactively identifying sourcing risks, cost impacts, and supplier capacity constraints.

Supplier Relationship Management

• Establish and maintain strong supplier relationships focused on performance, innovation, service quality, and cost competitiveness.
• Evaluate supplier performance using KPI metrics and address performance gaps through corrective action plans when necessary.
• Negotiate pricing, commercial terms, contracts, renewals, and service agreements to maximize value and reduce overall cost of ownership.
• Collaborate with suppliers to drive continuous improvement and identify savings opportunities.

Savings & Continuous Improvement

• Deliver measurable year-over-year cost savings and value capture initiatives across assigned IT categories.
• Analyze spend data and procurement trends to identify consolidation opportunities, process efficiencies, and sourcing improvements.
• Support procurement transformation initiatives and contribute to the development of scalable procurement processes and governance.
• Maintain a proactive sourcing mindset by continuously identifying new projects and opportunities for procurement engagement.

Contract & Compliance Management

• Support contract review and negotiation activities in partnership with Legal and business stakeholders.
• Ensure supplier agreements comply with Fluence procurement policies, risk management standards, and corporate governance requirements.
• Maintain accurate procurement documentation and sourcing records within ERP and procurement systems.
• Ensure proper documentation of all savings are recorded in the required systems on time to meet the monthly financial goals

Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Business Administration, Finance, Information Technology, or related field.

Experience

• 5+ years of experience in Indirect Procurement, Strategic Sourcing and IT Procurement.
• Proven experience managing global IT categories.
• Must have experience supporting fast-paced, high-growth organizations.

Skills & Competencies

• Proven strong sourcing, negotiation, and supplier management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities simultaneously.
• Ability to work flexible hours to accommodate the (EST) time zone
• Strong working knowledge of IT service ticket systems to manage incoming requests
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with a focus on cost savings and operational efficiency.
• Excellent communication/presentation and stakeholder management skills across global teams.
• Ability to work independently with a proactive and solution-oriented mindset.
• Experience conducting RFx events and supplier evaluations.
• Knowledge of software licensing, telecom agreements, hardware sourcing, and IT supplier management.
• Strong understanding of IT procurement categories and supplier landscape.
• Required proficiency in ERP and procurement systems (SAP & Coupa).
• Advanced Microsoft Excel and data analysis capabilities required.

Preferred Qualifications

• CPSM, CIPS, or equivalent procurement certification.
• Experience supporting global procurement organizations.
• Experience with procurement analytics and spend management tools.
