About the role
We are seeking a values-driven and proactive Crisis Accommodation Support Worker to deliver professional and consistent support to young people who are homeless or at risk of experiencing homelessness.
Reporting to the Client Services Coordinator, this is a casual position based in Fitzroy North, Victoria. Salary and conditions are in accordance with the SCHADS Level 4.
You will successfully
Deliver high quality support services to young people accessing youth services programs.
Provide a safe and nurturing environment for all residents residing within the refuge setting.
Complete comprehensive intake and risk assessments for all refuge clients, incorporating adequate assessment of the needs of accompanying children where relevant.
Work to the direction of case management plans in assisting young people to attend appointments relating to health & well being, sustainable housing, education & employment, life & living skills and social inclusion & participation.
Assist residents with a range of activities in preparing for independent living: meals preparation; life and living skills; health and hygiene; recreation and exercise.
Provide informal support to all clients of the program including outreach clients residing in the community.
Assist in the daily cleaning and maintenance of the refuge environment.
You will have
Tertiary qualification in social sciences, welfare or related field with a degree qualification preferred.
A current Victoria Employee Working with Children Check.
Current Victorian Driver License.
Relevant experience in a social service environment.
Understanding of and commitment to the mission and values of The Salvation Army

Strong verbal and communication skills.
