Job Description

Our client is a reputable, long-standing Toronto law firm known for its outstanding culture and the calibre of its team. The firm operates a busy real estate practice alongside other areas of law, and prides itself on the warmth and professionalism of its working environment. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in supporting the firm's financial operations and will work closely with both legal staff and external accountants.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day bookkeeping for a busy law firm, including trust and general accounts in full compliance with Law Society requirements

  • Support a high-volume real estate practice with timely and accurate transaction recording, trust reconciliations, and reporting

  • Maintain and process all entries in PCLaw, ensuring data integrity across billing, accounts receivable, and trust records

  • Prepare and submit LawPro filings accurately and on time

  • Prepare comprehensive year-end financial statements and working papers for the firm's external accountants

  • Produce financial reports and summaries using Excel, including reconciliations, summaries, and variance analyses

  • Liaise with lawyers, law clerks, and administrative staff to ensure seamless financial operations across the firm

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of bookkeeping experience within a law firm environment

  • Demonstrated experience in a high-volume real estate law practice; strong familiarity with trust accounting and real estate closings

  • Proficiency in PCLaw is essential; candidates without PCLaw experience will not be considered

  • Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including reconciliation models and financial summaries

  • Experience preparing year-end working papers and financial statements for accountants is strongly preferred

  • Knowledge of LawPro filing requirements and processes

  • Meticulous attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
