Lake Washington School District is looking for a qualified Registered Nurse to work as Substitute Nurse for a full-time leave replacement nurse serving both Frost Elementary & Juanita Elementary, from the start of the school year on August 20, 2026, through January 13, 2027. Substitute Nurses play a vital role in maintaining the health and safety of students by stepping in for regularly scheduled staff during absences and leaves.
Hours Per Day: 8.0. Split is based on building needs. Travel between the two different schools.
Shift: 7:30-4pm. Shift subject to change
Hourly Rate: $48.73/hour. This is a non-benefited position.
Job Summary:
The School Nurse provides comprehensive nursing services to support student health, safety, and educational access within the school setting, including addressing the needs of students with complex and chronic medical needs. Responsibilities include assessing student health needs; developing, implementing, and managing Individualized Health Plans (IHPs), administering medications and treatments; and responding to medical emergencies. The School Nurse is responsible for ensuring immunization compliance in accordance with state regulations and district requirements. The role also includes delegating and supervising medication administration and health-related procedures to unlicensed school staff in accordance with state nurse practice regulations and district policy. Collaboration with students, families, school staff, and healthcare providers is essential to fostering a safe, inclusive, and healthy learning environment.
LICENSE/SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Valid Washington State Registered Nursing License.
• First aid- and CPR certification preferred.
• Valid Washington State driver's license.
• Hepatitis B immunization.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Education and Experience:
• Bachelor's degree in nursing or an associate degree in nursing or a nursing diploma earned in an accredited hospital program and job-related experience.
• Five years of nursing experience desired.
