We are currently seeking a Contract Painter / Prepper / Composite Technician (12-month contract) to join our Langley Operations Department within the Helicopter Repair Center. Reporting to the Crew Chief, Structures, this role offers the opportunity to work on unique helicopter paint schemes and graphics while supporting one of the industry’s leading aircraft paint shops.
What You’ll Do
- Prepare aircraft parts and surfaces for refinishing, including sanding, masking, cleaning, and plastic media blasting
- Apply primers, paint, stencils, decals, and other finishing materials in accordance with approved procedures
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safety-focused work environment
- Operate and maintain paint-related equipment including spray guns, hoses, and paint booth equipment
- Complete required documentation accurately and in accordance with company procedures
- Perform work in compliance with applicable quality, safety, and environmental standards
- Follow safe work practices, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Support hazardous waste handling and disposal requirements
- Perform other duties as assigned to support operational requirements
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma, technical school training, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
- Experience supporting paint preparation, refinishing, sanding, masking, cleaning, or related surface preparation activities
- Ability to read, understand, and follow written work instructions, procedures, and safety requirements
- Demonstrated ability to perform detail-oriented work requiring accuracy and consistency
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- Basic communication and organizational skills sufficient to complete documentation and coordinate work activities
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in automotive, industrial, aerospace, or aircraft painting and surface preparation environments
- Experience using spray equipment, paint application tools, or related refinishing equipment
- Familiarity with workplace safety practices, PPE requirements, and hazardous material handling procedures
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, stretch, and climb ladders during portions of the workday, with or without reasonable accommodation
- Ability to safely operate tools, equipment, and computer systems required for the position
- Ability to perform visual inspections of aircraft parts and components
- Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination sufficient to perform painting, masking, preparation, and inspection activities safely and effectively
