This position is a member of our Water Supply Division.
HERE’S WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
Conduct in office and/or on-site engineering and technical reviews, analyze, quality control and evaluations of routine to highly complex information from internal and external customers to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures; and follow up with appropriate actions.
Provide information and engineering assistance concerning requests and submittals from public water systems to internal and external customers through verbal communication, email, correspondence, meetings, on-site assistance, and presentations.
Provide customer service to internal and external customers related to the agency’s drinking water program through verbal and written communication, correspondence, reports, meetings, presentations, and responses to Public Information Requests (PIRs).
Provide training and mentoring to other staff. Serve as a subject matter expert engineer for assigned programs/topics.
Plan and/or participate in special projects, such as serving as an owner of standard operating procedures (SOPs), updating, or developing a guidance document and working on Section/Division business process improvement projects.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS
Experience with analyzing engineering design, maintenance, administration, and operations of public drinking water systems.
Experience performing public drinking water system analyses, such as evaluation of water quality, water chemistry, or water microbial assessment.
Experience preparing reports, correspondence and recommendations for technical and non-technical audiences.
REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Texas Professional Engineer's license plus two years of full-time engineering experience beyond licensure. Qualifying work experience includes obtained post licensure as an engineering graduate student or teacher.
Career Ladder Progression: One year of full-time experience at TCEQ as an Engineer II.
CURRENT TCEQ EMPLOYEES
This position is also available as a lateral transfer opportunity (LTO) to TCEQ employees within the Engineer III state classification. The selected candidate must meet the minimum qualifications of the corresponding job in the Engineer III series.
Employees in this classification series may research, work on, or have access to critical infrastructure, including but not limited to a communication infrastructure system, cybersecurity system, electric grid, hazardous waste treatment system, or water treatment facility. See Tex. Business & Commerce Code Section 117.001(2). Accordingly, the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the infrastructure is a requirement to be hired for and to continue to be employed with TCEQ.

Work Schedule
Standard business hours are M-F, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Individual and work group schedule determined by the TCEQ Austin Headquarters Office.
