As part of TCEQ’s Office of Waste, you would contribute to agency efforts to regulate the generation, treatment, storage, and disposal of various wastes and the cleanup of contaminated sites. See details about what we do.
This position is a member of our VCP-CA (Voluntary Cleanup Program and Corrective Action) Section of the Remediation Division.
HERE’S WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
Oversee and coordinate remediation projects, which include drafting documents to address technical reviews and queries; track correspondence to ensure timely completion.
Track project progress to ensure sites are moving toward closure.
Assist and/or complete special projects approved by the supervisor.
Provide customer service to and respond to inquiries from both internal and external customers.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS
Experience interpreting and/or applying environmental statutes, rules, regulations, and/or governmental policies.
Training and/or experience with the Texas Risk Reduction Program (TRRP).
REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
A bachelor’s degree with a major in biology, chemistry, engineering, environmental science, earth science, geology, or a related field from an accredited college or university.
Employees in this classification series may research, work on, or have access to critical infrastructure, including but not limited to a communication infrastructure system, cybersecurity system, electric grid, hazardous waste treatment system, or water treatment facility. See Tex. Business & Commerce Code Section 117.001(2). Accordingly, the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the infrastructure is a requirement to be hired for and to continue to be employed with TCEQ.

CURRENT TCEQ EMPLOYEES
This position is also available as a lateral transfer opportunity (LTO) to TCEQ employees within the Engineering Specialist I-V state classification. The selected candidate must meet the minimum qualifications of the corresponding job in the Corrective Action Specialist I-V series.
Work Schedule
Standard business hours are M-F, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Individual and work group schedule determined by the TCEQ Remediation Division.
