Job Overview
The Diesel Mechanic, under the direction of the Operations Manager, will be responsible for performing preventative maintenance and general repairs on tractor/trailer, tankers and dry van units to Company and DOT standards, as well as inventory controls and processing order paperwork.

Essential Job Functions
- Diagnose, inspect, and repair light to medium duty trucks, trailers, tankers, and bobtail units, including air and hydraulic brake systems, tires, steering, suspension, driveline, electrical systems, lighting, and related components, with safety as the top priority.
- Identify, diagnose, and resolve tractor and trailer issues related to systems such as tachometers, speedometers, power steering, power dividers, U-joints, transmissions, rear ends, A/C systems, starters, alternators, and APUs (equipment includes Peterbilt and Kenworth).
- Diagnose and repair trailer and tanker components including lids, valves, hoses, manways, and related fittings.
- Perform preventative maintenance (PMs) on tractors, trailers, bobtail trucks, and applicable plant equipment, completing routine repairs and associated work orders.
- Maintain technical proficiency across shop functions including tractor, trailer, tire work, and basic parts administration.
- Support tire and parts inventory management, including tracking usage and assisting with inventory controls.
- Perform general or routine welding with or without prints, as needed.
- Utilize appropriate diagnostic tools and resources (e.g., computer diagnostics, parts manuals, service bulletins, diagrams) to research issues, determine repair methods, and locate parts.
- Accurately document work performed within the Company’s internal work order and billing systems.
- Maintain positive working relationships with team members, leadership, and external vendors through effective communication and collaboration.
- Adhere to all Company policies and safety procedures while helping maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and recommend process enhancements related to equipment maintenance and shop operations.
- Serve as a positive role model by demonstrating professionalism, teamwork, and a strong safety mindset.
- Perform special projects and other duties as assigned.
What You Need:
- Minimum of one (1) year of relevant experience in light to medium duty truck and equipment repair.
- Ability to demonstrate welding skills in non-standard situations and on varying materials (preferred).
- Must possess and maintain a clean driving record.
- Must provide and maintain required personal tools.
Certifications:
- Technical school certification in diesel engines, electronics, or a related field preferred.
- Valid Commercial Driver’s License (Class A) preferred but not required.

CERTIFICATIONS:
- ASE Certified (Preferred) but not required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A technical or trade school certification or advanced degree in diesel engines, electronics, and/or related fields is preferred or 5 years of relevant industry experience in light to heavy-duty truck repairs.
- The ability to demonstrate successful welding skills in non-standard situations and on varying materials is a plus.
- Valid Commercial Driving License A (Preferred) but not required.
- Pedigree fleet management system knowledge (Preferred) but not required.
- Must have a clean driving record.
- Must have own tools.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work is considered heavy physical work requiring the exertion of 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Must possess strength, stamina, and mobility to perform heavy physical work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions with exposure to potentially hazardous chemicals.
Must be able to:
- Walk, lift, reach, stoop, stand, grasp, balance, climb, kneel, and crouch for extended periods of time.
- Visually inspect small defects and/or small parts.
- Operate machines, motor vehicles, hand tools, and job specific equipment and tools; determine the accuracy and thoroughness of work.
- Demonstrate the ability to hear and accurately interpret mechanical, technical, and business information in an environment subject to noise, vibrations, etc.
- Perform all work safely in a fast-paced work environment.
