Job Description

Drake University believes that the experience students receive from the residence hall program benefits their academic, social, intellectual, and personal growth. The philosophy of Drake University is that the student life in the residence halls is not separate from the academic mission of the University, but rather it is supportive of students' total development. The Assistant Director (AD), First Year Experience will work actively and collaboratively toward the realization of this philosophy serving as a role model, advisor, administrator, supervisor, and supporter.

The AD is a twelve month, live-in, master's degree-level (masters in College Personnel, Higher Education Administration, or related field required) professional who reports to the Associate Director of Residence Life. The AD facilitates the total student life experience in three First Year residence halls with approximately 600 residents. These responsibilities include programming, enforcement of community standards, supervision of undergraduate staff, and management of desk operations. The AD also plays a role in the campus-wide elements of the First Year Experience, including Welcome Weekend, Family Weekend, and Admission's events.
