Job Description

Join our team as a Coal Technician and make a real difference in delivering accurate, high-quality sample collection and analysis for CHPP and train operations. You'll be working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment where your attention to detail directly impacts critical testing processes that meet both site protocols and Australian/International standards. Your key responsibilities in this role will include but are not limited to:

  • Execute precise sampling, preparation, analysis, and reporting procedures while maintaining the highest accuracy standards
  • Deliver all work on schedule with meticulous attention to detail and quality assurance
  • Maintain complete traceability and integrity of all samples throughout the testing process
  • Proactively support the maintenance and optimal performance of lab and prep equipment
  • Champion a safety-first culture by identifying hazards and promoting best practices across the team
  • Foster seamless communication and knowledge transfer with incoming and outgoing shift teams
  • Take ownership by immediately flagging unsafe or faulty equipment and escalating concerns
  • Conduct routine sampling, preparation, and analysis for shipping and exploration initiatives
  • Strategically plan daily tasks, coordinate sample logistics, and optimize testing schedules

To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:

  • Experience in coal sampling, preparation and testing, or within a mineral laboratory environment (preferred but not essential)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Availability to work a 7/7 rotating day and night roster
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a small team in remote locations
  • A current Australian manual driver's licence (preferred)
  • Current Standard 11 certification
  • The ability to meet pre-employment medical and fitness-for-work requirements
