Packaging Buyer

Supply Chain

Orem, Utah – On Site

Full-Time - Exempt $55,000 – $65,000

Who We Are

At Just Ingredients – a health and wellness e-commerce company – we believe that nourishing your body with real ingredients is essential for living a healthy and fulfilling life. That’s why our products are made using carefully selected, whole-food ingredients. And our people are just as real as our ingredients – authentic, collaborative, and dedicated to fostering a workplace that inspires individuals and teams to reach their full potential.

About the Team

Our Supply Chain team keeps Just Ingredients running smoothly from the inside out. We are a collaborative, detail-oriented group focused on operational excellence across sourcing, planning, and fulfillment. As we continue to scale, packaging plays a critical role in protecting our products, communicating our brand, and meeting the demands of a growing customer base. This team values accountability, cross-functional partnership, and a proactive mindset.

What We Are Looking For

We are looking for a detail-driven and collaborative Packaging Buyer to join our Supply Chain team. In this role, you will manage the end-to-end procurement of packaging materials — from sourcing and supplier management to purchase order execution and quality coordination. You bring 1 to 3 years of relevant experience in packaging procurement or a related supply chain function, and you thrive in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment. If you take pride in building strong supplier relationships, aligning inventory with demand, and driving cost-conscious decisions without sacrificing quality, we want to hear from you.

What You’ll Do

Sourcing & Supplier Management

  • Identify, evaluate, and onboard packaging suppliers aligned with Just Ingredients’ quality, cost, and sustainability standards
  • Build and maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure continuity of supply, competitive pricing, and responsive service
  • Conduct regular supplier performance reviews and lead corrective action processes when needed
  • Continuously benchmark the supplier landscape for innovation, cost efficiency, and supply risk mitigation

Purchase Order Management

  • Create, issue, and manage purchase orders for all packaging materials in alignment with production schedules and inventory targets
  • Track open orders from confirmation through delivery, resolving discrepancies, delays, or shortages proactively
  • Maintain accurate PO records and documentation within company ERP or procurement systems
  • Communicate order status updates to cross-functional partners including operations, product, and demand planning

Inventory & Demand Planning

  • Collaborate with demand and production planning teams to forecast packaging material needs and maintain appropriate safety stock levels
  • Monitor inventory levels and lead times to prevent stockouts or excess, adjusting procurement strategies accordingly
  • Support S&OP processes by providing packaging supply data and surfacing potential constraints in advance
  • Reconcile physical inventory counts against system records and investigate discrepancies

Cost Analysis & Negotiation

  • Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts with packaging vendors to achieve cost targets while maintaining quality and supply reliability
  • Analyze unit costs, volume pricing, and total cost of ownership to support data-driven sourcing decisions
  • Identify and implement cost savings opportunities through supplier consolidation, specification optimization, or process improvement
  • Track and report packaging spend against budget, escalating variances with recommended corrective action

Quality & Compliance Coordination

  • Partner with the quality team to establish and enforce packaging specifications, inspection criteria, and approval workflows
  • Coordinate supplier documentation requirements including COAs, material safety data sheets, and regulatory certifications
  • Support new packaging development projects by managing samples, lead times, and supplier communication during qualification
  • Ensure all packaging materials meet applicable regulatory, cGMP, and brand standards prior to approval for production use

What You’ll Bring

  • 1 to 3 years of experience in packaging procurement, purchasing, or a related supply chain role
  • Familiarity with packaging materials and formats common to CPG, e-commerce, or supplement manufacturing (e.g., pouches, bottles, labels, boxes, mailers)
  • Experience working with ERP or procurement systems (NetSuite, SAP, or similar preferred)
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret cost data, forecast trends, and support negotiations
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail — you manage multiple vendors and open orders simultaneously without letting anything fall through
  • Clear and professional communicator across suppliers, internal stakeholders, and cross-functional teams
  • A proactive, problem-solving mindset — you anticipate supply risks and act before they become issues
  • Familiarity with cGMP, FDA labeling requirements, or supplement industry compliance is a plus
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Operations, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience considered

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary based on experience
  • Medical, Dental, Life Insurance
  • 401K with company matching
  • 4 weeks accrued PTO
  • Employee discounts
  • Fast-paced environment
  • Purposeful mission for health and wellness
