Position Summary
The Recycled Materials Association (ReMA) represents more than 1,700 companies across the U.S. and around the world that keep manufacturing supply chains moving through recycled materials. ReMA promotes safe, economically sustainable, and environmentally responsible recycling through advocacy, education, and industry partnerships.
ReMA is seeking a performance driven AVP of Membership to accelerate new member growth and strengthen ReMA’s reach across key industries and markets. This role leads the development of a strong acquisition strategy, builds meaningful relationships with prospective members, and ensures ReMA continues to grow in the areas where it matters most.
This is a hands-on, outward-facing role that blends strategic planning with active business development. The AVP will analyze markets, identify high-value prospects, and work directly with industry leaders to bring new companies into the ReMA community.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities
- Partners with the VP of Membership to design and execute an annual growth plan focused on priority industries and market segments.
- Researches trends, competitors, and industry needs to identify new recruitment opportunities.
- Strengthens and refines ReMA’s membership value proposition to clearly communicate benefits to prospective members.
- Builds and maintains a targeted pipeline of qualified prospects.
- Leads the full new-member sales cycle, including outreach, discovery conversations, proposals, and closing.
- Owns new member revenue goals, forecasting, and performance tracking.
- Provides guidance and oversight to the Director of Membership, New Member Sales.
- Builds strong relationships with senior executives in recycling, manufacturing, and adjacent industries.
- Represents ReMA at conferences, meetings, and industry events to expand visibility and identify new leads.
- Ensures accuracy and consistency in CRM/AMS records and membership data.
- Tracks pipeline activity, conversion rates, and market performance to inform strategy.
- Partners with the Technology team to improve dashboards and reporting tools.
- Uses CRM/AMS systems (NetForum preferred) to manage prospects and monitor progress.
- Works with the Marketing team to align outreach materials and messaging.
- Coordinates with internal departments to support onboarding and early engagement for new members.
- Serves as an advisor to the VP of Membership on market trends, recruitment opportunities, and member feedback.

- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree a plus.
- At least seven years of experience in membership growth, B2B business development, or similar field
- Related supervisory experience preferred
- Proven track record of meeting or exceeding revenue or acquisition goals.
- Experience with market research, segmentation, and value proposition development.
- Strong communication skills and comfort engaging C-suite leaders.
- CRM/AMS experience required (NetForum preferred).
- Experience in sustainability, manufacturing, industrial sectors, or trade associations is helpful.
- Ability to handle and maintain the confidentiality of highly sensitive information.
Working Conditions
- Salary range for this position is between $135k - $145K.
- Travel is expected (20-35%) for chapter meetings, job site tours, and national events.
- Position location is Washington, DC. We are working in a hybrid environment with two days per week in office.
- This position operates in a professional office environment. While traveling to tour job sites, you could be exposed to general hazards that accompany recycling plant.
