Job Description
The Recycled Materials Association (ReMA) represents more than 1,700 companies in the U.S. and around the globe who play a critical part in providing recycled materials to America’s manufacturing industries. Based in Washington, D.C., we promote safe, economically sustainable, and environmentally responsible recycling through education, networking, and advocacy.
The Senior Manager, Industry Research & Insights is the Chief Economist’s primary partner in producing applied industry research that supports ReMA’s role as the leading voice for the recycled materials industry. This role leads analytical coverage of one or more commodity sectors, with a focus on non-metals, and translates research into clear, accessible insights for members, policymakers, and other stakeholders.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Leads analytical coverage of assigned recycled materials sectors, including market conditions, pricing trends, and policy and regulatory developments.
- Manages multi-month research projects from scoping through delivery, including Industry Yearbook contributions, commissioned studies, and division-specific analyses.
- Develops and maintains data products such as trackers, dashboards, and recurring market briefs that support departmental and member-facing deliverables.
- Conducts secondary research on industry markets, pricing, and policy developments; contribute to department-wide analysis of domestic and international trade as needed.
- Supports and conducts primary research efforts, including member surveys, interviews, and benchmarking studies.
- Produces clear, well-designed research products, including written reports, slide presentations, and data visualizations.
- Presents research findings to members and stakeholders at division meetings, committee calls, chapter events, and select industry conferences.
- Provides timely sector-specific data and analysis to support ReMA’s policy and advocacy work.
- Collaborates closely with the Chief Economist and Research team to ensure analytical consistency, accuracy, and alignment with organizational priorities.

- Bachelor’s degree in economics, statistics, public policy, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Five to eight years of experience in industry research, market analysis, trade association research, consulting, or a related analytical role.
- Strong written communication skills and the ability to translate analytical findings into clear, member-focused materials.
- Demonstrated experience working with quantitative data and applied economic or market analysis.
- Proficiency in PowerPoint, with the ability to create polished, data-driven presentations and visuals.
- Familiarity with one or more recycled materials sectors is a plus; candidates with adjacent industry experience and the ability to ramp quickly will be considered.
- Comfortable working independently while managing multiple projects and deadlines.
Working Conditions
- Salary range for this position is between $120k - $135k.
- Some travel is expected job site tours, quarterly and national events.
- This position operates in a professional office environment. While traveling to tour job sites, you could be exposed to general hazards that accompany recycling plant.
