The Salvation Army (Salvos) is one of Australia’s largest providers of alcohol and other drug (AOD) programs including withdrawal management, residential and non-residential rehabilitation, and harm reduction programs. Salvos services go beyond addressing the core issues and challenges associated with problematic substance abuse and provide participants a place of hope, compassion, and dignity to recover safely.
As an EN in our service, you’ll play a vital role in delivering high‑quality clinical care, monitoring physical and mental health, and guiding clients through their recovery journey — all within a supportive, culturally responsive, values‑driven environment.
Shifts Available
- Morning: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
- Afternoon: 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM
The role:
The Salvos are one of Australia’s leading AOD service providers, offering withdrawal management, residential rehabilitation, harm‑reduction programs, and holistic support. Our work is grounded in dignity, compassion, and evidence‑based practice — giving people a safe place to stabilise, heal, and rebuild.
How You’ll Make an Impact
You will deliver person‑centred, recovery‑focused nursing care by:
- Conducting clinical assessments, interventions, and monitoring aligned with:
- Queensland Alcohol and Drug Withdrawal Clinical Practice Guidelines
- Drug and Alcohol Withdrawal Clinical Practice Guidelines
- Recovery Services Policy & Procedures
- TSA values and policies
- Working closely with on‑site and visiting medical officers
- Administering and dispensing medications for withdrawal management
- Managing admissions, discharges, and clinical handovers
- Maintaining accurate, timely documentation
- Contributing to continuous improvement and evidence‑based practice
What You’ll Bring
- Current AHPRA registration as an Enrolled Nurse
- Minimum 2 years’ experience (mental health experience highly regarded)
- Strong understanding of withdrawal management and clinical guidelines
- Blue Card (mandatory for Townsville & Mount Isa)
- Driver’s Licence (preferred)
- Confident assessment, triage, decision‑making, and crisis‑response skills
