Job Description
Midland Oral Surgery is seeking a skilled and dedicated Surgical Assistant II to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience as an Oral Surgical Assistant II and be committed to providing exceptional support during oral surgical procedures. This role requires a high level of technical proficiency, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with surgeons and clinical staff.
- Assist oral surgeons during a variety of surgical procedures by preparing and handling instruments and materials.
- Ensure the surgical environment is sterile and properly set up before procedures.
- Monitor patient status and assist with patient positioning and comfort during surgery.
- Maintain accurate documentation of surgical procedures and patient care.
- Prepare and maintain surgical instruments and equipment, ensuring proper sterilization and functionality.
- Collaborate with the surgical team to anticipate needs and respond promptly during procedures.
- Adhere to all safety and infection control protocols.
- Familiar with all forms and handouts (procedure-based, consent forms, etc.).
- Aware of and in compliance with OSHA requirements (e.g. personal protection)
- Greet patients and make them feel comfortable.
- Perform administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, filing, and charting.
- Perform patient consultations.
- Provide discharge instructions.
- Make follow up phone calls to patients.
- Take X-Rays / scans.
- Enter EMR notes for various appointments and procedures.
- Properly closing and opening the office each day (Tanks, Suction, Xray)
- Back-up co-workers as needed.
- Proven experience as an Oral Surgical Assistant II or equivalent role.
- Strong knowledge of oral surgical procedures and protocols.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced surgical environment.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational abilities.
- Certification or training relevant to surgical assisting preferred.
- Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations.
- Monday – Thursday 7:30AM-5PM
- Friday 7:AM-2:00PM

- Working on-site is essential to the function of this position.
- Must be able to stand up to 80% of the time at minimum.
- Physical requirements include sitting, stooping, turning, standing, bending, walking, hearing, reading, writing, and keyboarding, may lift up to 25 lbs.
