Position Summary:
The role of Shop Foreman is responsible for overseeing daily operations in the maintenance shop, supervising mechanics and technicians, and ensuring timely and high-quality repairs. This position coordinates workflow, assigns tasks, and monitors performance to maintain operational efficiency. The Shop Foreman serves as the primary liaison between the maintenance team and operations, ensuring fleet readiness and compliance with safety standards.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Supervise and lead the maintenance shop team
- Assign and prioritize maintenance and repair tasks
- Ensure all repairs meet company and safety standards
- Conduct regular inspections of work quality and shop safety
- Train and mentor mechanics and technicians
- Coordinate with operations to minimize vehicle downtime
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities
Education, Experience and Skills:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification preferred
- 5+ years of experience in vehicle maintenance
- Strong leadership and organizational skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Knowledge of bus or heavy vehicle systems and regulations
