Starting Salary: $47,604.00
Benefits: This state position provides a percentage of matching contributions to employees’ retirement plans, 11 holidays, and a minimum of 15 days of annual and sick leave per year. The state also offers a comprehensive benefits package, including a benefit allowance to offset the cost of insurance premiums for employees and their eligible dependents.
Basic Purpose: Positions in this job family are assigned responsibilities related to construction, preventive maintenance, renovation, and repair of federal owned, Oklahoma Military Department operated buildings, grounds, and equipment at Will Rogers Air National Guard Base, requiring no license. This will include assisting skilled and licensed tradesmen in the construction or renovation of buildings, general maintenance and upkeep of plumbing, HVAC, electrical and other systems, and minor repair to machinery or equipment.
Essential Functions:
· Responsible for grounds maintenance to include mowing, edging, trimming, weeding, landscaping, and debris cleanup in coordination with the State Construction/Maintenance Administrator and the Base Facility Manager.
· Responsible for preventive maintenance and minor repairs of all grounds keeping tools and equipment to include power mowers, edgers, trimmers, blowers, vacuums, trailers, and carts.
· Apply chemical treatments (fertilizers, herbicides, and insecticides) to lawns, flower beds, and pavement areas as required.
· Attend training on safety procedures, tools and equipment operations, and general maintenance procedures as needed.
· Attend staff meetings as required.
· Assists other skilled or licensed tradesmen as mission dictates.
· Assist Plumbing craftsman in maintaining and repairing plumbing fixtures such as sinks, traps, faucets, urinals, toilets, and other equipment using water such as irrigation systems and waste disposal systems as needed.
· Assist Electrical craftsman in maintaining and repairing light fixtures, receptacles and switches; replaces light bulbs; oils and cleans motors; troubleshoots and makes electrical repairs not requiring a license as needed.
· Assist HVAC craftsman in maintaining and repairing various types of heating, refrigeration and air-conditioning equipment, such as components, pumps, fans, humidifiers, electric motors, and heat exchangers as needed.
· Operates various types of equipment used in construction and maintenance of building and grounds, such as trucks, tractors, fork-lifts, lawn mowers, edgers, trimmers, blowers, vacuums, trailers, and electric carts.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge, Skills and Abilities required at this level include knowledge of the principles, methods, materials, fixtures, tools and equipment used in various building and maintenance trades; of occupational hazards and safety precautions of the trade; of team dynamics and of supervisory principles and practices.
Skills are required to use various tools and equipment, and to construct, maintain or repair various types of structures or equipment.
Ability is required to follow written and oral instructions; to supervise the work of others, such as contractors and other non-state employees; to write and maintain records and reports; to adhere to the state purchasing guidelines; and to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
Education and Experience: Five (5) years of experience in one or more of the building trades or an equivalent combination of education and experience. or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Licenses/Certificates required:
Applicant must possess an Oklahoma Pesticide Applicator Certification – Category 3a or have the ability to obtain certification within one (1) year of employment.
Physical Requirements:
· Able to lift/carry a minimum of 80 pounds.
· Able to stand for long periods of time.
· Able to climb ladders and stairs.
- Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Able to work at heights up to 100 feet.
Conditions of Employment:
- Serves a 12-month probation period.
- Contingent on a favorable NCIC/OSBI background check.
- Contingent on passing a pre-employment drug & alcohol screening.
- T1 security clearance (eligibility for national positions shall be granted only to persons who are U.S. citizens).

- Must maintain a valid driver’s license.
