Middle School Nutrition Worker (Part-Time)
Hours: 5 hours/day | 9:30 AM � 2:30 PM
Location: Amherst Middle School

Position Summary:
The Nutrition Worker supports daily kitchen operations, including food preparation, service, and maintaining a clean and safe work environment. This position works closely with the Chef-Manager to ensure efficient meal service and compliance with all food safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with preparation and service of breakfast food and beverages
- Support the Chef-Manager with meal prep for lunch service and future production
- Set up and assist with lunch line service, including serving students
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary workstation in compliance with state and federal regulations
- Follow standardized recipes and portion control guidelines
- Provide friendly and efficient customer service to students and staff
Qualifications:
Skills:
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Basic operation of kitchen equipment
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to maintain accurate records and follow procedures
- Customer service-oriented mindset
Knowledge:
- Basic math and reading comprehension
- Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions
- Familiarity with food safety and sanitation practices (training provided if needed)
Certifications:
- Safe Food Handler Certification required within 30 days of hire
Physical Requirements & Work Environment:
- Ability to stand for extended periods (majority of shift)
- Frequent walking, bending, lifting, and reaching
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
- Work performed in a kitchen environment with varying temperatures
- Occasional travel to other schools within the district may be required

- Strong communication skills
- Flexibility to adapt to changing kitchen needs and product availability
Experience in food service is preferred but not required�we are willing to train the right candidate.
