
Substance Use Counselor
Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated, hard-working, and compassionate Substance Use Counselor to join our team. The Substance Use Counselor completes substance use disorder evaluations, provides group and individual counseling, develops treatment and aftercare plans, and teaches independent living skills to clients. This position requires strong communication skills and a commitment to making a positive impact on the lives of others.
Responsibilities
- Complete substance use disorder evaluations.
- Provide individual counseling sessions and facilitate group and educational meetings.
- Complete required documentation on time, weekly progress notes, and treatment plans.
- Teach clients activities of daily living.
- Utilize verbal and nonverbal intervention techniques with clients.
- Assure client safety, makes contacts with social services, law enforcement, and probation officers as needed.
- Assess clients for abuse or neglect by self or others on an ongoing basis.
- Act as advocates for clients with health care professionals to ensure continuity of medications and medical care.
- Model acceptable social skills when engaged in activities with clients in the community.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in behavioral health field.
- Active Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC) in the state of MN.
- Minimum of one year experience providing direct care services in the behavioral health field.
- Dually licensed professionals are encouraged to apply.
- Candidates that have an interest in working with co-occurring, adolescents or geriatric clients are encouraged to apply.
- Valid driver's license and auto insurance.

Pay: $30.41 - $37.25 per hour. Compensation is based on years of experience.
