Pediatric Wound Ostomy Clinical Nurse - BCH Oakland
Job Description
Serves as a clinical nurse leader for a defined program or area of nursing practice. Utilizes specialized knowledge and advanced clinical skills across key focus areas, including patient and family care, nursing practice, and organizational or system-level improvement. Partners with the nurse manager to support and advance clinical practice within the assigned area. This role represents the journey-level position for an advanced practice Clinical Nurse Specialist.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of two (2) years of recent clinical RN experience in a relevant specialty area
- Flexibility to orient and work across all UCSF Medical Center locations
- In-depth knowledge of one or more clinical specialty areas, including diagnoses, treatments, standards of practice, and patient/family education resources
- Advanced critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex issues and develop effective solutions
- Advanced written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex and/or sensitive information clearly and concisely
- Advanced interpersonal skills, including the ability to educate, train, and provide direction to nursing staff and build effective relationships with patients, families, staff, and external partners
- Bachelor’s degree or Master’s entry-level degree in Nursing from an accredited program
Licensure and Certifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of California
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Nursing from an accredited program
- Certified Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) or licensure/certification in an advanced practice nursing discipline (e.g., Nurse Practitioner)
