Kay 4 supports patients with hematology disorders or leukemia and lymphoma disease at St. Jude Be a part of caring for patients in the most current protocol enrollments that will revolutionize treatment for hematology and leukemia/lymphoma disease.  Kay 4 is a 17-bed unit that offers small nurse to patient ratios.  Come join a prestigious nursing team who provides the highest quality of care, every day! 

This is a night shift position seeking nurses with at least one year of experience. 7pm - 7am

Minimum Education and/or Training:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS), required. Pediatric Advance Life Support (PALS), OR Advanced Cardiac Life Support ACLS, preferred as applicable.

Minimum Experience:

  • Minimum Requirement: BSN required with completion of 18 months of clinical nursing experience.
  • St. Jude or other RN experience required.
  • Intermediate pediatric assessment, critical thinking, and pain assessment skills.
  • Some experience in pediatric or oncology nursing.
  • Working knowledge of research protocols.
  • Strong knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to any age-related needs of the patients served on the assigned unit.
  • Strong knowledge of the principles of growth and development for all ages served.
  • Strong ability to assess and interpret age specific data about the patient’s status.
  • Strong clinical nursing, interpersonal, and patient education skills.
  • Proven performance in earlier role.

Licensure, Registration and/or Certification Required by Law:

  • (LC: RN-TN) Must possess a current Tennessee State Board of Nursing license if primary residence is Tennessee or a Nurse Licensure non-Compact state.
  • (LC: RN-ARK or RN-MISS) Must possess a current State Board of Nursing license in the state of primary residence if the state is a Nurse Licensure Compact state.

Licensure, Registration and/or Certification Required by SJCRH Only:

  • Certified Pediatric Hematology Oncology Nurse (CPHON) preferred.
  • Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) preferred.

Special Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Proactively engages with patients to seek feedback and suggestions to deliver high quality service within own area.
  • Executes new approaches to improve patient systems, processes, and communication across patient care teams.
  • Independently seeks out and addresses complex patient needs and priorities to ensure an integrated patient care experience.
  • Independently addresses healthcare needs within own area, through strong medical/ clinical knowledge and skills; Demonstrates strong understanding of research and clinical trials to support implementation.
  • Is able to comprehend, translate, and interpret medical/ clinical information for delivery of high quality patient care.
  • Leverages strong knowledge of clinical Nursing and primary care coordination to function independently/ proficiently in managing clinical practices.
  • Prioritizes and ensures patient safety while complying with ethical principles, legal regulations and standards of care.
  • Identifies potential areas for improvement in patient care quality and suggests solutions.

Compensation

In recognition of certain U.S. state and municipal pay transparency laws, St. Jude is including a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This is an estimate offered in good faith and a specific salary offer takes into account factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the salary range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range is $31.50 - $55.00 per hour for the role of Pediatric Oncology Nurse II: Kay 4 nights.
