Venetian Pet Hospital, located in Stockton, CA, part of the Suveto network of hospitals, is looking for an Assistant Practice Manager to join our team.

The Assistant Practice Manager is a primary contact for the Practice Manager and Medical Director. The Assistant Practice Manager supports the Practice Manager and assumes responsibility, leadership, and accountability for daily operations. Oversees the purchasing functions for the hospital ensuring that stock remains at a functional level while remaining profitable and overseeing the repair of damaged or disabled equipment used by the Practice.
Full-Time; $23.00-$25.00 per hour
Monday – Friday; some Saturdays may be required
Essential Job Duties:
- Meet regularly with Practice Manager and Veterinarians to discuss best use of product and product alternatives to promote product consolidation.
- Stay current with product obsolescence, product unavailability, and regulatory restrictions that may disrupt the inventory planning process.
- Handles all inventory purchases complying with hospital policies.
- Frequent inventory counts and expiration check. Delegate, accordingly, but continue to monitor progress.
- Work closely with Lead Technician with controlled substances. Assistant Practice Manager creates purchase order and Lead Technician receives order and will do inventory counts of controlled substances.
- Support Practice Manager in all matters related to staff.
- Provide supervision in the absence of the Practice Manager.
- Review Veterinary Assistant applications, screen applicants and assist in the interviewing process.
- Oversee all training of new employees in the Department. Delegate, accordingly, but continue to monitor progress and performance. Update phase training as needed.
- Monitor staff periodically throughout the day, encourage productivity, and discourage behaviors that may be detrimental to a positive atmosphere/working environment.
- Maintain protocols that assure cleanliness, promote client satisfaction, patient care and optimize productivity and cohesiveness.
- Participate in the interview and review process with the Practice Manager.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- High school diploma or equivalent, some college is preferred.
- Previous receptionist, veterinary practice experience, customer service background required.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a supervisor role.
- The ability to multitask in a busy office environment.
- Knowledge of veterinary products and their uses is required.

- Be flexible in work schedule, as hospital and department needs are every changing.
- Be able to handle stress and always maintain a professional demeanor.
- Must maintain a calm and impartial demeanor with clients, doctors, employees, and vendors setting a tone for professional relationships.
- Maintains positive, cooperative relationships with other employees and possesses solid communication skills with not only the staff but with management. Always remains a united front with management.
- Demonstrates accountability in all work responsibilities. Exercises sound and ethical judgment when acting on behalf of the Hospital. Exercises appropriate confidentiality in all aspects of work.
