Job Description

Purchasing Supervisor

Job purpose: The Purchasing Supervisor plays a key leadership role within the procurement function, overseeing the daily operations and performance of the Procurement Analysts team. This position supports organizational growth by enhancing procurement processes, strengthening supplier performance, and fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

  • Supervise the daily operations of the Procurement Analysts team, including workload distribution, task prioritization, and issue resolution.
  • Provides coaching and performance feedback, supports employee development, oversees onboarding and training of new team members, and fosters a collaborative, high-performing team environment.
  • Collaborate with the Category Management team to monitor and improve supplier performance, procurement efficiency, and cost effectiveness.
  • Identify and address root causes of operational issues affecting accuracy, productivity, and service quality.
  • Work closely with Accounting to resolve pricing discrepancies and ensure accurate invoicing.
  • Coordinate with Finance to investigate and correct gross profit variances.
  • Support and participate in the planning and implementation of process improvements and strategic initiatives.
  • Monitor and support employee performance to ensure alignment with organizational goals and to foster continuous development.

Qualifications

  • College diploma in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in procurement or supply chain operations.
  • Minimum 1-2 years of experience in a supervisory or team lead role.
  • Applied knowledge of inventory management, carrying cost, min/max, and logistics;
  • Experience building spreadsheets with intermediate formulas, charts, and pivot tables; organizing data.
  • Purchasing Management Association of Canada (PMAC) designation (asset). 
  • Bilingual (French and English*), spoken and written.
     (*) This qualification is required as this role will be interacting with employees and managers across Canada on a regular basis.
