
Survey Research Analyst Co-op
Job Description
Open to students registered in a recognized co-op program only.
- Duration: Fall 2026 (September–December 2026; 4 months)
- Location: Victoria, BC - our office is located on the Selkirk Waterfront along the Gorge Inlet, offering stunning views of downtown Victoria and the Olympic Mountains. You’ll also have easy access to the nearby Galloping Goose Regional Trail for walking and cycling.
- Salary: $2,040.97 bi-weekly – Grid 7, Step 3 (for students working towards a diploma or bachelor's degree) or $2,335.03 bi-weekly – Grid 12, Step 3 (for students working towards a post-graduate degree)
- Grant: As part of our inVESTED scholarship program, you may be eligible for reimbursement up to a maximum of $1,000 per four-month work term to cover the cost of co-op work term tuition fees.
- Hybrid Work Model: You will have the flexibility to work part of the time on-campus and part of the time off-campus. The requirement for in-office presence is a minimum of 40% of your schedule in a month. Additional requirements are determined by the role functions and operational needs of each business area.

- Team: The Business Measurement and Analytics (BMA) team leads the Corporation’s survey research program, designing and administering surveys and analyzing results to inform decision-making. We manage key initiatives such as a suite of member and employer satisfaction surveys (Voice of the Client), as well as support ad hoc survey requests from across the organization. The co-op student will contribute to survey development and administration, response monitoring, data preparation, and reporting for these initiatives.
Job Responsibilities
This position supports the design, execution, and analysis of survey research initiatives, including coordinating timelines, managing survey deployments, and ensuring data quality. A primary focus will be supporting the Corporation’s client satisfaction survey research program (Voice of the Client). Under the guidance of the Manager of Analytics, the student will work alongside a Senior Research Analyst to support end-to-end survey delivery. Responsibilities include assisting with survey design and testing, monitoring response rates, preparing and validating data, supporting analysis and reporting, and collaborating with stakeholders to ensure outputs meet business needs. The role requires strong attention to detail, adherence to quality assurance processes, and responsible handling of data in line with privacy and confidentiality requirements.

- Coordinating survey timelines, tracking progress, and supporting end-to-end project delivery.

- Applying survey design best practices, including question wording, response scales, skip logic, and survey flow.
- Preparing, cleaning, and validating survey data to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Assisting with analysis and helping develop reports, presentations, or dashboards to communicate findings to stakeholders.
- Collaborating with stakeholders to gather requirements and ensure research outputs meet business needs.
- Strengthen attention to detail, organization, and quality assurance practices in a research environment.
- Applying privacy, confidentiality, and ethical considerations when handling survey data and research outputs.
- Using collaboration and project tools such as Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, and related platforms to support project work.
This opportunity is available to 2nd – 4th year and graduate level students with an interest in conducting survey research. This position is ideal for students in the Social Sciences (e.g., Psychology, Sociology, Political Science, Economics, Public Administration, Anthropology) or related disciplines, with coursework or experience in survey research methods.

Knowledge and/or experience in the following areas would be an asset:
- Basic research methods (quantitative and/or qualitative)
- Survey design principles (e.g., question wording, response scales, skip logic, survey flow)
- Experience using survey platforms (e.g., Alchemer, Qualtrics, Microsoft Forms, or similar tools)
- Data cleaning, preparation, and quality assurance practices
- Supporting survey administration activities (e.g., testing, deployment, monitoring responses)
- Troubleshooting survey or data issues and supporting end users
- Awareness of privacy, confidentiality, and ethical considerations in research and data handling
- Interest in client experience, feedback programs, or continuous improvement initiatives
- Analysis of survey results using tools such as Excel, R, or similar
- Creating reports, summaries, or dashboards to communicate findings
- Familiarity with sampling approaches and basic statistical concepts
- Coding or analyzing open-ended survey responses (qualitative analysis)
- Stakeholder engagement, including gathering requirements or presenting insights
- Experience with business intelligence tools (e.g., Microsoft Power BI) or data visualization techniques
- Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, MS Teams), Power BI, R, Python, or other analytical tools is considered an asset.
