Job Description
SUMMARY
To assist the management team with communication, supervision and administration of corporate policies at the shop floor level. Supervise and coordinate activities of crane operators, riggers and mobile equipment operators. Responsible for the safe operation of equipment and movement of materials. Responsible for the enforcement of all material handling procedures and OHSA laws in regards to material handling.
Duties and Responsibilities
To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform the following essential duties satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned to address business needs and changing business practices.
* Interpret company policies to assigned workers and enforce safety regulations.
* Establish and/or adjust work procedures to meet production schedules, using knowledge of crane operation and rigging equipment
* Recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment performance and quality of product, and suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of operations
* Analyze and resolve work problems or assist workers in resolved problems
* Record and maintain records involving attendance and disciplinary measures
* Perform rigging work along with leads and other workers
* Give directions to crane operator engaged in hoisting loads
* Recommend or initiate personnel actions, such as promotions, transfers, discharges and disciplinary measures
* Maintain time and production records
* Ensure that all rigging work meets federal safety requirements and standards as established by OSHA
QUALIFICATIONS

* Basic computer skills
* Must possess conversational English-speaking ability
* Strong written and oral communication skills
* Extensive knowledge of blueprint reading and ABS requirements

* Strong leadership skills
Experience and Education
* Three years of progressive experience within department
License or Certificate

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position is in a production environment around traffic and heavy manufacturing equipment with exposure to heat, cold, noise, moving machinery and trip hazards where personal protective equipment such as head, eye, hearing, and foot protection are required. This position may be exposed to welding, machining, forming, metal surface treatment, laser cutting, plasma cutting, and other metal working and assembly processes. Additional PPE may be required as determined by the environment.
* Work overtime as required (varies, may require some weekend days)
* Workaround traffic and heavy manufacturing equipment
* Work at heights on scaffolding and ladders, in dim-lit areas, on slippery or uneven surfaces
* Exposure to heat, cold, noise, grease, smoke, fumes, gases, toxic chemicals, and inclement weather conditions.
* Work in confined space, move through manway and tank openings
