SUMMARY
The Security Guard is responsible for the security of plant buildings, grounds, facilities and employees. The Guard also oversees access to plant grounds and coordinates parking. Responsible for security issues that directly impact Gunderson employees. The ideal candidate for this position is reliable, safety-focused, self-motivated, flexible, and detail-oriented. This role is on our graveyard shift - 10:00pm-6:00am.
Duties and Responsibilities
The following duties are typical for this role. Other duties may be assigned to address business needs and changing business practices.
* Patrol on foot/vehicle, the grounds and buildings of plant
* Control access to plant grounds: bar hostile and/or unauthorized persons from plant
* Coordinate parking in plant lots
* Provide emergency response to medical and fire emergencies, panic and burglar alarms, hazardous spills, and /or plant evacuations
* Write necessary reports
* Trained in accordance with job responsibilities and applicable specifications
QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
The following generally describes requirements to enter the job and/or be learned within a short period to successfully perform the assigned duties.
* Must have a valid driver’s license
* Must have or be able to complete Public Safety Standards Training, First Aid Certifications and Blood Borne Pathogen Training.
* Entry level computer skills: Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
* Ability to speak, read, and write English.
* Must be able to drive automatic and stick shift vehicles
* Able to react to security alarm and emergency calls
* Must have reliable transportation to and from work.
* Must be able and willing to work any shift (day, swing, overnight)
Experience and Education
* 1-3 years of experience in the Security profession preferred
* Ability to complete the State DPSST Unarmed Officer Course.
Working Conditions
* Work overtime as required (varies, may require some weekend days)
* Frequent exposure to heat, cold, noise, grease, smoke, fumes, gases, toxic chemicals, and inclement weather conditions
* Occasionally work around traffic and heavy manufacturing equipment
* Occasionally work at heights, and on slippery or uneven surfaces
* Occasionally work in confined space
