SUMMARY
The Director of National Accounts ("Director de Cuentas Nacionales") is responsible for cultivating and securing group business through strategic prospecting, relationship management, and exceptional sales execution. This role drives revenue performance by meeting and exceeding annual and monthly goals for guest rooms and food & beverage within assigned market segments.
As a key ambassador of the property, the Director leads high-level negotiations with meeting planners, representing the Lodge with professionalism and attention to detail. This includes contracting group business across guest rooms, banquet food & beverage, resort fees, meeting space, and spa services, while ensuring a seamless and elevated client experience that reflects the Lodge’s luxury standards.

- Compensation: $90,000 - $100,000 DOE**

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Conveys a favorable image of the hotel with a positive, professional appearance and demeanor.
- Responsible for meeting or exceeding productivity goals for group business.
- Aggressively solicit high-end travel agent business for the hotel within the Los Angeles area.
- Plan and implement direct sales calls, participate in tradeshow activities, industry events and other networking opportunities in the territories assigned by the Director of Sales.
- Arrange FAM/Site inspection trips to hotel by major clients and accompany clients.
- Negotiate contract agreements with customers.
- Maintain a high level of exposure of hotel in major market areas through direct sales solicitation, telephone contacts, and written communications.
- Actively cultivates new accounts and solicits in market while consistently maintaining profitable relationships with existing key accounts.
- Creates with the Director of Sales a system to routinely update knowledge of competitive set and is able to identify competitor’s strengths and weaknesses in order to respond as necessary.
- Aggressively contributes to financial growth of company by maintaining rate integrity and up selling of hotel amenities.
- Develops and implements a strategic sales plan of action in target market segments in conjunction with Director of Sales.
- Maintains excellent interpersonal relationship skills with a professional approach to both internal and external customers.
- Conscientiously ensures that all sales activities are accurate and documented in a timely and efficient manner as prescribed by Director of Sales.
- Supports the Director of Sales and sales team in a professional manner and seeks out new projects and assignments.
- Participates in safety program and is involved in keeping working area and property safe.
- Assists the Director of Sales in the development of marketing plan for hotel as well as an annual action plan to review quarterly.
- Attend bi-weekly sales meetings to review groups; resolve any discrepancies (participation can be through teleconferencing.) Mandatory personal attendance may be required periodically.
- Foster and promote a cooperative working climate, maximizing productivity and employee morale.
- Mentors new and junior Sales Manager and/coordinators.
- Performs additional duties and responsibilities as directed by the leadership team.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university or any equivalent.
- At least 5 years of relevant experience and/or training.
- A combination of experience, education, and/or training may be substituted for either requirement.
- Previous similar position in a hotel/resort group sales or similar industry is a plus.
- Sales trips and travel to destinations outside San Diego required.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
- Ability to always maintain a friendly, professional, team-oriented, positive demeanor and diplomatic attitude, especially under stress or challenges.
- Ability to stand, kneel, squat for prolonged periods of time, up to and including, the entire shift and lift up to 25 lbs.
- The following position will be filled in accordance with the process set forth in California Labor Code Section 2810.8 and San Diego Municipal Code 311.0101 et. seq.
