Description of Work

You must apply by 11:59 PM prior to the posted closing date.This position will work jointly with the Division Bridge Program Manager and the Division Bridge Maintenance Engineer to ensure that the appropriate bridges are chosen for replacement and to ensure that we are performing the correct maintenance and/or system preservation activities on bridges at the appropriate time. This position will help ensure that all priority maintenance issues, and critical findings, are addressed in an appropriate and timely manner. This position will also assist in determining which activities need to be handled by contract and assist in the administration of those contracts. This position will assist the Division Bridge Program Manager and the Division Bridge Maintenance Engineer in ensuring the successful delivery of the Division's work plan.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences
Salary Grade and Salary Range: NC13 - $50,088.00 - $87,654.00
Management prefers applicants with the following:
- Knowledge and understanding of engineering concepts, practices, and theories used in the project development and construction engineering of bridges.
- Experience with interpreting and communicating verbally and in writing details of plans, project documents, policies, and procedures to convey information to consultants, department personnel, and others.
- Experience leading and maintaining positive working relationships with environmental agencies, consultants, and/or NCDOT staff, in order to find acceptable solutions to bridge project problems.
- Experience with maintaining detailed records, analyzing findings, and recommending corrective actions.
- Experience with determining and calculating estimates and preparing erosion control plans.
Minimum Education and Experience

Associate’s degree in an applicable area of engineering technology from an appropriately accredited institution and six (6) years of progressive technician experience; or High School or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and eight (8) years of progressive technician experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.EEO Statement
