Job Description
Conduct weekly tutorial sessions in the use/practice of the Cantonese language. Select and add language and cultural content as appropriate to the course D2L content page and share with students. Finalize course syllabi, including relevant dates, post to D2L, and submit to the Director and Program Coordinator prior to the start of the semester. Schedule classes and submit the schedule to the Program Coordinator prior to the beginning of semester or session. Record weekly student attendance in D2L. Submit evaluations to meet academic deadlines. Submit tutor self-evaluation to Program Coordinator at the end of the semester. Provide timely communication and feedback to students throughout the semester. Promote extra-curricular activities related to language development with students. Attend program trainings and meetings as necessary. Number of work hours determined at time of course hire. Adhere to university code of conduct policies. Complete and keep current all university required trainings required to complete duties. Complete the Tutor as a Foreign Language Certificate training, subsidized by CLP, for those who do not have a B.A./B.S. degree and/or degree in education or a language related field during the first year of employment. Complete other duties as needed and assigned. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Ability to effectively communicate in English, both verbally and in writing.
