WHAT YOU WILL ACHIEVE
The Material Handler is responsible for processing materials to be recycled by taking part in various roles to complete the tasks needed. You will play a hands-on part in sorting, separating, and inspecting material to keep our recycling operation running safely and efficiently.
HOW YOU WILL DO IT
- Position materials to separate, sort, and process using the necessary tools to complete tasks.
- Keep the work area neat and clean at all times, utilizing brooms, shovels, and blowers, including at the end of the shift. This requires bending, twisting, and lifting up to 50 lbs., with or without assistance, into a container 4' high. Material will come from the ground to the container, conveyor to another conveyor, or other means as directed.
- Identify and remove foreign contaminants from the conveyor.
- Ensure material is properly inspected by controlling and operating the speed of the conveyor.
- Recognize and comply with Lockout/Tagout procedures.
- Use required PPE, which includes, but is not limited to, proper footwear, high visibility, hard hat or bump cap, and ear, eye, and hand protection.
- Adhere to all safety policies and procedures.
- Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
- Interact in-person with peers and management for the duration of the shift through face-to-face interactions, use of handheld radio, and group meetings.
- Bend, twist, push, pull, grasp, hold, and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Assist others with their job duties when needed.
- Handle high-stress situations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU
Basic requirements:
- 6 months to 1 year of relevant experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
- Ability to understand and follow written and verbal work instructions and safety standards, and count accurately.
- Must be able to work in a loud, wet, dusty, and physically demanding work environment, including extreme hot and cold temperature variations.
- Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
- Ability to train others while performing the essential duties of this job.
Physical requirements:
- Stands or walks for most of the shift; frequently on uneven floors/ground or raised platforms.
- Constant repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands, and/or fingers, to operate warehouse equipment.
- Specific vision requirements include color, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Routinely perform repetitive movements such as bending, twisting, reaching, and lifting.
- May be required to lift, carry, and position material weighing up to 50 lbs. with assistance.
- Frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts.
WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT FROM US
- Pay: $17/hr plus bonuses
- Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–4:00 PM
