
Medical Wellness - Instructor - PT
Job Description
The Medical Wellness Instructor position is responsible for the administration and operation of the Medical Wellness programs offered within the South Shore YMCA for Seniors, adults, teens and youth including Blood Pressure clinics throughout the year. Additionally, this role is responsible for any administrative work assigned to by any Grant (Federal or State Funding) – Some of the job duties and responsibilities are (but not limited to): Scheduling, organizing, teaching/coaching, filing and entering data.
CORE EXPECTATIONS:
1. PROGRAM MANAGEMENT & DEVELOPMENT
Directs and supervises program activities to meet the needs of the community and fulfill YMCA objectives. Establishes new program activities and expands program within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans (when applicable). Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations.
2. STAFF / VOLUNTEER ENGAGEMENT & DEVELOPMENT
Directs volunteers as needed to support programs. Develops strategies to motivate volunteers.
3. MEMBERSHIP ENGAGEMENT & DEVELOPMENT
Builds relationships with and among members and community members, responds to inquiries and solves problems. Creates a safe and supportive community environment, assists in recruiting and engaging new members, and connects members to the YMCA’s cause.
4. BUDGET & FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT
Responsible for timely and accurate payroll submission.
5. FACILITY MANAGEMENT
Work with appropriate branch staff to provide program facilities for members and community members that are safe, clean, adequately equipped, well maintained, and attractive.
6. COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT & SUPPORT
Assists in YMCA fund raising activities/events, and engages in collaborative relationships with community organizations in order to strengthen support and build community.
Bachelor's degree from four-year College or University preferred.
· 2-3 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
· Experience with Medical Wellness special populations is preferred.
· Nursing Experience is preferred.
· The ability to develop positive, effective working relationships with children & families, staff, volunteers, community leaders, agencies and members.
· Effective communication skills, the ability to deliver good customer service and a high level of enthusiasm are required.
· Proven supervisory skills in hiring, training, evaluating, and motivating staff
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk and talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, or crouch.
