Summary:
The Senior Analyst, Reconciliation is responsible for performing and reviewing bank and balance sheet reconciliations, identifying and resolving reconciling items, supporting month-end and quarter-end close activities, and ensuring compliance with corporate policies, internal controls, and applicable accounting standards.
The role requires strong analytical skills, sound accounting judgment, effective collaboration with cross-functional teams, and the ability to leverage financial systems and emerging tools, including prompt engineering, to improve reconciliation quality, reporting accuracy, and process efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform and approve regular bank reconciliations and account reconciliations, ensuring reconciling items are properly identified, analyzed, documented, and resolved in a timely manner.
- Prepare, analyze, approve balance sheet accounts during month-end and quarter-end close, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with corporate policies, local statutory requirements, IFRS and/or US GAAP.
- Review book vs. bank differences, aging open items, timing items, and other reconciling differences, and coordinate with relevant teams for proper resolution or accrual assessment.
- Provide clear and actionable instructions to the Cash Team or other relevant teams for required adjustments, including journal entries, bank charges, unrecorded payments, or other correction entries.
- Perform financial analysis, variance analysis, and trend review to identify unusual movements, recurring issues, process gaps, or potential risks.
- Ensure reconciliations are supported by complete and appropriate documentation in accordance with internal control procedures and audit requirements.
- Collaborate with AP, AR, Controllership, and other internal or offshore teams to resolve reconciliation issues and improve end-to-end processes.
- Support internal and external audits by providing schedules, supporting documents, explanations, and timely responses to audit inquiries.
Identify and recommend process improvements, automation opportunities, and control enhancements to improve reconciliation accuracy, efficiency, and timeliness.
Use financial systems such as BlackLine, Workday, ERP tools, Excel, and other reporting platforms to perform reconciliations, reporting, analysis, and issue tracking.
Build effective working relationships with business partners, internal teams, and offshore contacts to support timely issue resolution and continuous improvement.
Perform other reconciliation, reporting, analysis, and finance-related tasks as assigned.
Requirements:
BS Accountancy graduate from a reputable college or university; CPA preferred but not required
At least 5 to 8 years of relevant experience in bank reconciliation, balance sheet reconciliation, general ledger accounting, or shared services finance operations.
Strong knowledge of accounting standards, including IFRS and/or US GAAP.
Strong understanding of internal control procedures, audit requirements, and month-end close processes.
Experience working in a multinational company, BPO, or shared services environment is preferred.
Proficient in financial software and ERP/reconciliation tools such as BlackLine, Workday, or similar systems.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, with working knowledge of Word, Outlook, and other reporting tools.
Knowledge of macros, automation, or process improvement tools is an advantage.
Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills with keen attention to detail.
Able to communicate clearly, provide structured analysis, and explain reconciliation issues effectively to stakeholders.
Demonstrates creativity, growth mindset, and willingness to adopt new tools and improved ways of working.
Strong relationship-building skills and ability to collaborate with local, regional, offshore, and cross-functional teams.
Flexible, assertive, accountable, and able to work under deadlines, including shifting schedules when required.
