Job Description

The Powder Packer role is responsible for operating advanced packaging systems, optimizing line performance, and leading minor troubleshooting and improvement efforts.

  • Package powder products for customer orders required.
  • Coordinate with fork operator to properly configure robotic stacker and package product with correct weights, bag type, pallets, and quality related requirements per work instructions.
  • Monitor weights, stenciling and other order components, adjust and complete quality related documents as required.
  • Fill bags (small bags/bulk bags) and palletize product per order work instructions.
  • Utilize equipment vibrators as necessary to maximize operational productivity.
  • Maintain a safe work environment utilizing workplace exams, S.L.A.M., and LOTOTO. Complete all documentation as required.
  • General plant cleanup, including but not limited to, sweeping with push broom and vacuuming warehouse floors, cleaning hoppers and taking waste to the landfill, picking up trash, cutting/pulling weeds, painting with a paint brush, roller or sprayer, conducting cycle counts (physical inventory) of finished products/raw materials/supplies, filing paperwork, conducting safety audits (looking for unsafe conditions or unsafe acts) and other inspections, assist with data entry, quality analysis and equipment calibrations.
  • Help safety manager prepare safety training and present training to other employees. operating a forklift for the maintenance, production and shipping departments, attend extra training classes.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • 1-3 months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • High level of safety and quality.
  • Ability to multi-task at a fast-pace (at times), work in outside conditions during all seasons, climb multi-levels by stairs & ladders, work from elevated. platforms, use hand tools (shovel, hammer, wrenches, etc.).
  • Good problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. 
  • Ability to write routine reports. and correspondence. 
  • Ability to speak effectively to employees of the organization. Listens and gets clarification. Writes clearly and informatively.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. 
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Presents numerical data effectively.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Must follow all statutory, regulatory and organizational procedures to protect the environment from hazardous waste exposure.
  • Must follow all Federal and State Safety Regulations, and company safety policies/procedures; Report potentially unsafe conditions; Aid in correcting unsafe conditions; Use equipment and materials properly.
  • Ability to learn how to operate equipment safely and efficiently, such as packers, robot stacker, bulk bagger, stencil cutter and scales.
  • Uses time efficiently; Meets productivity standards; Completes work in timely manner; Strives to increase productivity.
  • Follows instructions, responds to management direction; Completes tasks on time or notifies appropriate person with an alternate.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces and elevated locations.
  • Upon Hire: Mine Safety & Health Administration New Miner Training, HazCom and ISO training.
  • Mine Safety and Health (MSHA) Knowledge - Preferred.
  • Forklift experience - Preferred.
  • Computer Software - Preferred.
  • Warehouse experience - Preferred.
