Job Overview:

The Vice President, High Net Worth Strategist provides partnership with advisors serving high-net-worth and ultra-high-net worth individuals, families, and institutional clients. This support includes strategy development for holistic, tax, and estate planning, practice coaching, transition support, client presentation, implementation and ongoing maintenance for advisor relationships in the HNW space. Position interacts primarily with colleagues within HNW Planning Services, Advisory & Brokerage, LPL Research, Private Trust Company, Fixed Income, Insurance, Alternatives, and LPL Marketing.

Responsibilities:

  • Dynamic Sales – Deep understanding of UHNW focused advisors and UHNW investors.  Ability to educate, position and close business effectively and efficiently with advisors and their UHNW end clients as a strong, self-directed, leading partner. Proven track record of ability to close and retain advisory business with an emphasis on leading with planning.

  • Subject matter expertise – Must have depth of knowledge on UHNW subjects that include but not limited to planning for estate, tax, business exit and succession, equity compensation, philanthropic, real assets, family dynamics and governance, sophisticated investment strategy, and alternatives.

  • Leadership – This role will have a serve as a leader to additional team members as this offering grows. This person will create a playbook and operate an apprenticeship model for future team members.  This individual will have additional leadership opportunities in interactions with advisors, serving as a model for firms and advisors on winning, onboarding and retaining large relationships.  This individual will report directly to the SVP, HNW Planning Services, Wealth Planning. Ability to navigate in scope engagements with advisors, diffuse tense and sometimes time sensitive situations, deploy experts and must be masterful in multi- functional dynamics. 

  • Speaking, Presentation and Presence – Polished, approachable and organized in written communications, speaking and engagement presence in a one of one or one to many presentations.

  • Case Consultations - Must be able to navigate sophisticated and complex cases and clients. Required to consult with financial advisors on new sales opportunities, which are escalated from various departments at LPL Financial.  This involves performing a detailed needs analysis of the prospect through analyzing existing client profile specifics, identifying complex planning needs, understanding short and long-term goals for assets.

  • Marketing - Must be able to assist in the creation of marketing materials for the High-Net-Worth team which articulates the value proposition of the team.  These marketing efforts include but are not limited to writing articles for various LPL publications, writing copy for brochures and creating client-facing materials.

  • Opportunity and Engagement Tracking and Reporting - Must be able to manage opportunity and engagement-tracking database and manipulate the data for various levels of sales and activity reporting. Strong follow through and follow- up with other leaders, advisors and team members.

  • Training and Education - Required to train advisors on the various needs of individual and institutional clients as described above as well as the features and functionality of the LPL Financial Advisory platforms.  Additional guidance must be given around practice management, positioning of firm identity, economics, and portfolio construction considerations.  Candidate must possess the ability to articulate market and economic impacts as well as technical characteristics of real assets, business ownership, portfolios, underlying securities and other balance sheet details.

Requirements:

  • CFP, JD/LLM, CFA, CEPA, CEP, CPWA or like- kind credentials

  • Bachelors degree

  • 20+ years experience with a focus in advisory and fee based platforms, advanced financial, tax and estate planning, and institutional client needs

  • 2+ years of leadership experience

  • Some travel expected for key prospect and client meetings, to regional, national, and advisor events/offices for consultation support and training

Preferences

  • Series 7 and 65 or 66

  • Modeling HNW/ UHNW Scenarios in tax, estate and other planning subjects

  • Graduate Degree

  • Wire House, Field Management or Private Banking experience

Pay Range:

$186,559.00 - $310,931.00


 

Actual base salary varies based on factors, including but not limited to, relevant skill, prior experience, education, base salary of internal peers, demonstrated performance, and geographic location.
