JRP is seeking an experienced Fleet Trainer (Fuel Transportation) to support the development, safety, and performance of our professional driving team. This role is responsible for delivering both hands-on and classroom-based training to new and existing drivers, ensuring compliance with DOT, OSHA, EPA, and company safety standards.
The ideal candidate is a seasoned fuel transportation professional with strong safety knowledge and a passion for coaching and developing others. Compensation Range
$60,000-$70,000 annually based on experience and qualifications

Key Responsibilities
- Deliver hands-on, field-based training on petroleum transport operations, including pre-trip inspections, coupling/uncoupling, and emergency procedures
- Train drivers on safe loading, transportation, and unloading of petroleum products at terminals and customer locations
- Demonstrate proper use of hoses, grounding equipment, vapor recovery systems, and spill prevention tools
- Conduct ride-alongs and on-the-job evaluations to assess driver performance and adherence to safety protocols
- Lead classroom training sessions covering DOT, OSHA, EPA, and company-specific safety regulations
- Maintain accurate training records and ensure compliance with all regulatory and company standards
- Assist in the development and continuous improvement of training materials, procedures, and SOPs
- Support incident investigations and provide corrective training as needed
- Partner with operations and safety teams to reinforce best practices and improve driver performance
- Travel frequently to company locations and training sites (approximately 75% travel required)
- Overnight stays required based on training schedules, with per diem and lodging provided for extended travel assignments
Eligibility Requirements
- Valid Class A CDL with Tanker and Hazmat endorsements required
- Minimum of 5 years of fuel transportation experience preferred
- Prior experience in driver training, coaching, mentoring, or safety instruction strongly preferred
- Working knowledge of DOT, FMCSA, OSHA, EPA, and petroleum transportation regulations preferred.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and coaching skills
- Ability to evaluate, mentor, and develop drivers of varying experience levels
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and training documentation systems
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Willingness to travel frequently, including overnight travel if required
- Must meet all DOT medical and compliance requirements
Physical Requirements
- Ability to safely operate commercial motor vehicles and demonstrate driving techniques
- Ability to enter and exit vehicles, climb ladders, and access equipment compartments
- Ability to lift, move, and demonstrate use of hoses and petroleum handling equipment
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, and work in outdoor environments for extended periods
- Ability to travel regularly between terminals, customer locations, and training sites
Work Environment
- Split between office, field, terminal, and customer site environments
- Regular exposure to outdoor conditions, weather variations, noise, and operational environments
- Frequent interaction with drivers, operations teams, and leadership
- Requires travel to multiple locations with occasional overnight stays
- Strong emphasis on safety, compliance, coaching, and continuous improvement
