Brief Role Description
In this integrated role, you own US Accounting & Tax end‑to‑end – from GAAP reporting and close to federal & multi‑state tax compliance, ASC 740, sales & use tax, and transfer pricing coordination with Germany.
The work enables MOIA to deploy autonomous mobility technology safely and responsibly at scale.
Candidates local to the Silicon Valley preferred.
Possible Tasks within this Role
US GAAP Close, Reporting & Controls (~35%)
- Own monthly, quarterly, and annual closing for US entities (journals, reconciliations, flux analysis).
- Maintain general ledger hygiene, accurate account mapping, and financial statements compliant with US GAAP
- Support external audits; prepare PBC lists; maintain accounting policies and memos (revenue, leases, capitalization).
- Build and maintain SOPs, internal controls, and a lightweight SOX‑lite framework appropriate for MOIA’s scale‑up phase
2) Tax Compliance & Reporting (Federal, Multi‑State) (~30%)
- Lead federal & multi‑state income/franchise tax compliance (returns, estimates, extensions)
- Monitor nexus and manage sales & use tax registration, filing, notices, and automation opportunities
- Prepare or review ASC 740 tax provisions; maintain tax accounts and reconciliations
- Coordinate with external tax advisors and state/federal authorities
3) Transfer Pricing & International Coordination (~15%)
- Manage intercompany charges, service agreements, cost‑sharing, and TP documentation.
- Align cross‑border processes with MOIA Germany Finance & Tax, including impacts on withholding tax and DBAs
- Provide TP‑aligned support for audits and documentation requirements
4) AP/AR, Cash & Operational Finance (~10%)
- Implement processes and ensure accurate AP processing, vendor onboarding (incl. W‑9/1099), invoice reviews, approvals, and payment cycles
- Manage AR, customer billing, collections, and cash forecasting
- Maintain bank reconciliations and liquidity visibility
5) Business Partnering & Strategic Advisory (~10%)
- Advise Legal, Product, Engineering & Ops on accounting and tax implications of autonomous vehicle pilots, fleet operations, and platform‑based revenue models
- Translate evolving business models (MaaS / TaaS, software, data, insurance‑adjacent structures) into compliant accounting & tax treatments
- Support cross‑functional projects, system implementations, and growth initiatives
Qualification requirements
Years of Relevant Experience
- 5-7 years combined Accounting & Tax experience in a corporate finance role or public accounting (audit + tax exposure ideal).
- Multi‑state US compliance experience strongly preferred; tech/automotive/AV or mobility business models a plus.

- Solid understanding of US federal & state tax (income/franchise, sales & use, payroll basics).
- Advanced Excel / Sheets; ERP experience (SAP preferred).

Compensation Data
In the Silicon Valley, the salary range for this role will be $115,000 - $130,000, depending on education and years of relevant experience.
Salary is determined by geographical location and adjusted accordingly. Other benefits for this position include:
