Position Summary
The Commodities Services Tech I position is responsible for the day-to-day picking, shipping, and reclamation functions. These duties include, but are not limited to, picking, inventory replenishment, packaging, shipping, material reclamation, waste disposal, housekeeping, and warehouse zone maintenance.
The job activity ensures the accurate picking, packaging, and shipment of required materials to Power Delivery facilities. The Commodities Services Tech I candidate is also expected to prepare new/used materials for return to the Supply Centers inventory. The successful candidate will be customer-driven to support the supply chain organization and the Power Delivery customers. The candidate must have the ability to learn new processes and systems within supply chain operations including MAXIMO and eMax. This position will be responsible for maintaining excellent communications with Supply Center employees and other internal customers to ensure the efficient flow of commodities in and out of Operation centers.
Basic/Required Qualifications (Commodities Services Technician I)
High school diploma or equivalent.
A valid driver’s license to operate Duke Energy vehicles
Ability to obtain Commercial Drivers License (Class B)
Demonstrated ability to operate power lift equipment
Demonstrated ability to use hand tools and power tools (banding machines, crimping tools, utility knives, bandsaw, reciprocating saw, etc)
Must be able to successfully complete fork-lift, Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S), and other supply chain-related training
Basic computer skills including e-mail access (Outlook)
Self-motivated and able to work productively with little direct supervision
Experience in effectively interacting with a wide range of contacts including management, employees, and external customers
Demonstrated ability to multi-task and adapt to frequently changing priorities
Demonstrated effective organizational, time management and interpersonal skills.
Desired Qualifications
At least two years of experience in Supply Chain or Warehouse environment
Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills, along with good verbal and written communication skills
Demonstrated ability to identify problems, consider resolutions and take the necessary steps to solve the problems
Working Conditions
On-system travel with occasional off-system travel within the Carolinas
Inside warehouse and outside yard environment (including all weather conditions and possibly extreme temperatures)
First (1st) shift position – Starting time will vary according to job function
Available for after hour call-outs, weekend and overtime work
Lifting requirements of 50 pounds
Extensive walking, bending, kneeling, pulling, climbing ladders, and working in extreme heat or cold
Onsite Mobility Classification – Work will be performed at a company facility
