Job Description

Senior Pricing Actuarial Analyst
Location: London | Flexible / Hybrid working

Are you a commercially minded pricing actuary or senior pricing analyst looking for a role where you can make an immediate impact?

At MSIG Specialty Marine, our actuaries are central to how we understand, assess and manage risk. This is a key role within our Pricing team, supporting Marine classes across approximately EUR 400m gross written premium.

We are looking for someone who can bring strong technical pricing experience, sound actuarial judgement and the confidence to work closely with underwriters, product leads and senior stakeholders.

This is an urgent and important hire for the team, offering the opportunity to step into a visible role where your work will directly support pricing decisions, portfolio performance and model development across the business.

The role

As a Senior Pricing Actuarial Analyst, you will join a specialist Pricing team providing analytical and technical pricing support across our Marine portfolio.

You will work closely with Pricing Actuaries, underwriters, underwriting management and teams to help develop, validate and deploy pricing models, while also supporting the business with case pricing, renewal monitoring, portfolio reviews and pricing insights.

This role would suit someone with strong commercial pricing experience, ideally gained within the London Market or specialty/commercial insurance environment.

What you’ll be doing

You will be involved in a broad range of pricing and actuarial work, including:

  • Developing and maintaining strong relationships with Pricing Actuaries, underwriters, product leads and underwriting management.
  • Assisting with the development and deployment of pricing models into pricing platforms.
  • Ensuring pricing models comply with the Technical Pricing Framework.
  • Analysing internal and external data to build, test and validate technical pricing models.
  • Supporting underwriters with actuarial and technical pricing matters, including case pricing, renewal monitoring, expected loss cost calculations and business planning day-to-day pricing supports.
  • Challenging assumptions and decisions where appropriate, bringing an independent pricing view.
  • Supporting Pricing Portfolio Reviews and providing insight into the quality and performance of risks written.
  • Maintaining and developing management information for analysis and reporting.
  • Liaising with other teams, including Catastrophe Modelling, Reserving and Capital modelling, ensuring consistence between pricing, risk and capital frameworks.

What we’re looking for

We are particularly interested in speaking with candidates who have:

  • Strong experience in pricing, ideally within commercial insurance, specialty lines or the London Market.
  • A background as a Senior Pricing Analyst, Actuarial Pricing Analyst or similar.
  • A degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Actuarial Science or a closely related quantitative discipline.
  • Progress towards actuarial qualification, or equivalent actuarial/pricing experience.
  • With minimum three or more years’ relevant pricing experience, with the ability to add value quickly.
  • Strong Excel skills.
  • Experience using programming languages such as SQL, VBA, or similar.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex analysis clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Confidence working with senior stakeholders and underwriters.
  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving ability and commercial judgement.

Experience that would be especially valuable

It would be highly advantageous if you have experience with:

  • Python
  • Pricing model development or model transition work
  • Emblem, R or similar actuarial/pricing software
  • London Market or specialty insurance pricing
  • Working closely with underwriters on technical pricing decisions

You’ll enjoy this role if you…

  • Enjoy applying maths, statistics and actuarial thinking to real business problems.
  • Like working closely with underwriters and commercial stakeholders.
  • Can translate complex data into clear, practical insight.
  • Enjoy building and improving pricing models.
  • Want to be part of a team where your contribution will be visible and valued.
  • Are comfortable working in a busy environment where priorities can change.

What you can expect from us

We offer a competitive salary and benefits package, alongside:

  • Flexible and hybrid working.
  • A supportive and collaborative team environment.
  • An open culture where new ideas and better ways of working are encouraged.
  • A strong focus on diversity, inclusion and equal opportunities.
  • Wellbeing and mental health support.
  • Employer-supported volunteering.
  • Continuous learning and structured career development.
  • A competitive actuarial study support package.
  • Opportunities to travel across six global underwriting hubs
