Project Manager I 

Posting Expires: June 5, 2026 

Salary Range: $68,156 - $70,000 annually 

 

Job Description
The Project Manager I in the Department of Procurement is responsible for supporting procurement projects to ensure timeliness, efficiency, compliance, and strategic alignment with organizational goals. This role supports procurement planning, execution, and contract administration while ensuring adherence to policies, procedures, and best  practices.

The position requires proficient project management, organizational, and communication skills to coordinate procurement activities, engage stakeholders, and drive process improvements. The Project Manager I collaborates with internal departments and external vendors to ensure timely, accurate and compliant procurement execution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support procurement planning efforts, ensuring alignment with operational needs and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate with internal teams to execute procurement strategies.
  • Manage procurement execution from solicitation to contract award, ensuring timeliness, compliance and efficiency.
  • Meet procurement timelines, key performance indicators (KPIs), and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure proper implementation of procurement methods and best practices.
  • Facilitate bid openings, proposal evaluations, and contract negotiations.
  • Identify and resolve procurement challenges in collaboration with procurement leadership, legal and compliance teams.
  • Support process improvements and policy recommendations to enhance procurement efficiency.
  • Provide guidance and support to stakeholders on procurement processes and requirements.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Supply Chain Management, Finance, or a related field.
  • Experience: At least three (3) years of experience in procurement, project management, contract administration, or strategic sourcing. 
  • Preferred: Public Procurement experience preferred. Master’s degree, professional certifications (CPPO, CPPB, PMP), and experience with eProcurement systems or ERP software.

  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Strong ability to coordinate with multiple stakeholders.
  • Time Management: Ability to manage multiple projects while meeting deadlines.
  • Communication & Negotiation: Effective communication and negotiation skills for vendor and stakeholder engagement.

Work Environment

  • Office-based with occasional meetings.
  • May require extended hours during end of the fiscal year.
