Job Description

Purpose: The Clinical Supervisor will align his/her scope of work with Jawonio’s Mission, while incorporating Jawonio’s Core Values as the guiding principle for all work activities.

 

Summary: Serves as a member of the program’s management team and provides leadership for clinical practice and service quality within an outpatient Personalized Recovery Oriented Services (PROS) program. The Clinical Supervisor holds primary responsibility for clinical oversight, staff development, evidence-based practice implementation, and clinical decision-making, while also participating in program operations and compliance activities. This role provides clinical supervision to multidisciplinary staff, supports regulatory compliance, and promotes recovery-oriented, person-centered care for individuals with serious mental illness.

 

§ Oversees and manages the delivery of mental health services and the daily operations of PROS and CORE program

§ Provides weekly clinical and task supervision to PROS clinician’s and peer specialists in the CORE program while supporting staff development

§ Provides clinical/managerial coverage for the program in the absence of and in addition to the Director of Behavioral Health Services.

§ Monitors and reviews assessments, treatment plans, discharge plans and clinical documentation to ensure quality and compliance with regulatory standards

§ Audits and monitors PROS groups to ensure quality of service delivery and alignment with curriculum and PROS standards

§ Responds to clinical crises and provides consultation, guidance and support as needed with complex cases across the program

§ Establishes and monitors clinical standards of practice across the program.

§ Co-leads daily team and clinical meetings

§ Seeks out new knowledge and approaches to enhance services and delivery of services

§ Ensures staff development of evidenced based practices and of psychiatric rehabilitation

§ Trains, mentors, and supports staff in recovery-oriented practices, crisis intervention, and evidence-based approaches

§ Embraces team approach, attending and participating in all staff meetings and mentoring new staff.

§ Attends all required interdisciplinary and team conferences and special meetings both in and outside of the agency

§ Completes performance evaluations and provides necessary feedback regarding performance issues; developing plans for improvement when needed.

§ Fosters a collaborative, inclusive, and supportive team environment

§ Collaborates closely with the Director of Behavioral Health Services to improve service delivery and clinical outcomes

§ Communicates and works with participants, their families and professional staff (both internal and external) to help ensure participant growth and recovery.

§ Carries a limited-size caseload of program participants, conducting individual therapy and utilizing psychiatric rehabilitation practices

§ Provides on-going counseling/therapy and support related to mental health impairments, specific to needs of each individual participant. Coaches and uses motivational techniques to help consumers develop to their potential.

§ Conducts PROS groups, counseling/teaching by facilitating specific Personalized Recovery Oriented Services curriculum

§ Provides group coverage when needed

§ Models appropriate/acceptable social and work skills

§ Performs all other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Education/Experience:

· Must be a licensed Psychologist-Ph.D., LCSW or LMHC plus minimum 3 year’s experience in a mental health or rehabilitative setting serving consumers with mental health disability with 2 years of experience in supervisory oversight of staff

· Knowledge of psychiatric rehabilitation principles and practices is preferred.

· Strong knowledge of evidenced-based practices

· Strong leadership in the Mental Health Field and organizational skills

· Knowledge of applicable program standards and regulations

 

Communications skills:

Frequent contact with internal & external employees of all levels, and other agencies serving the disabled at large; and other federally funded agencies; contact with consumers, advocates

 

Computer Skills:

Working knowledge of all Microsoft programs, including Excel and PowerPoint.

 

Work Environment:

Travel to and from designated internal and external facilities. Alternate training sites and conferences, as defined by agency.

 

Language Ability:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write comprehensive reports and documentation. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

 

Math Ability:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

 

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

 

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of MS Word, Excel and internet software.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Must have experience in supervising mental health professionals.

Additional Requirements:

· Daily access to an automobile is required. A valid NY State Driver’s License and ability to drive and driving record acceptable for agency insurance coverage are required.

· Remain current in all agency required trainings.

· Must be cleared and maintain acceptable record under state mandated criminal background check process.

· Must be clear and maintain an acceptable record under the Medicaid Fraud & Abuse clearance process.

· Requires flexing regular schedule to accommodate meeting and event times including occasional evening, weekend and holiday work.
