The Human Resources Coordinator manages the administrative tasks of the Pre-Employment Services division, serving as the bridge between applicants, doctors, and training staff. Their day-to-day responsibilities focus on streamlining processes, scheduling appointments, managing paperwork flow, handling sensitive information, and documenting everything.
This position plays a key role in supporting applicants to become Deputy Sheriffs and Detention Deputies for the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office.

Education
- Associate's degree in Human Resources or a closely related field.
Experience
- One (1) year of specialized administrative, human resources, or receptionist experience.
Combined education and experience qualifications
- Three (3) years of specialized administrative experience may be considered in substitution for the minimum requirements.
Other Requirements
- Must possess or have the ability to obtain by the time of hire a valid Arizona driver's license.
- Training with the exception of Arizona driver's license to be provided on-the-job: FEMA NIMS – IS100 and 700; OSHA training; payroll training; PREA training.
- Prior to hiring, the Sheriff's Office requires that all candidates pass an extensive background review.
Our Preferred Candidate has
- Two years of experience as a Legal or Medical receptionist.
- Two years of experience in a Human Resources environment.
- Current or previous experience with the Maricopa County Sheriff's office.
- Professional computer software experience with Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, calendar management applications, call waiting/call transferring, eSOPH, and SharePoint.
- Professional experience handling, documenting, and organizing human resources, medical, or legal paper files.
- Currently a Notary of the state of Arizona.

ESSENTIAL JOB TASKS

- Performs specialized administrative/clerical duties in a confidential/human resources environment.
- Provides exceptional customer service and communicates effectively via telephone, email, and in person for employees, applicants, the public, law enforcement entities, and governmental agencies.
- Delivers files to Personnel Services Division and Legal Services Division. Performs other courier functions as needed
- Responds to candidate inquiries regarding position details for MCSO uniformed positions.
- Conveys information and responds to questions concerning Pre-Employment policies and procedures and a variety of human resources related subjects.
- Trains new employees in Pre-Employment Services processes.
- Assists candidates with starting the Pre-Employment process.
- Assists with Pre-Employment facilitated hiring events.
- Maintains accurate files for current personnel, applicants in process, previous applicants, posse applicants and members, preservation, and reserve member status, and purges files as outlined by the Arizona State retention rules.
- Formulates reports, composes correspondence, memorandums, and forms. Prepares documentation for post-employment matters (e.g., creates files for current personnel, processes change paperwork, assists with AZ POST forms).
- Schedules applicants for a variety of appointments, including fingerprints, polygraph, medical, and psychological appointments.
- Researches, develops and implements special projects for department(s) as assigned by the Commander or Supervisor.
- Maintains a working knowledge of Pre-Employment processes and Maricopa County benefits providing information to interested applicants.
- Acts as liaison with Maricopa County and MCSO.
- Works cooperatively in a team environment.
- Applies logical and creative thought processes to develop solutions according to written specifications and/or oral instructions.
- Completes third party background investigations and other Pre-Employment records checks.
- Orders and maintains inventory for office supplies.
- Is present at work site to perform tasks as scheduled and/or assigned by the supervisor.
- Completes other duties as assigned.
Working Conditions
Work occurs primarily indoors, and occasionally outdoors for recruiting or other special events. Tasks require ability to manage constant interruptions and time pressures, and high work volume with concentration and accuracy. Position requires ethical conduct and a professional demeanor.

SELECTION PROCEDURE:
The hiring authority will select the successful candidate based on departmental needs.
All offers of employment made to new hires and rehires at Maricopa County are contingent upon successful completion of a post-offer, pre-employment thorough background investigation. A background investigation is conducted on a current employee who changes to a Safety Sensitive Position or one having the potential for serious adverse impact on the integrity or efficiency of the County. These requirements do not pertain to employees of elected officials who undergo background investigation processes administered through their respective offices.
Typically, successful candidates are hired at a salary rate, up to midpoint of the range, based on applicable experience, internal equity and budgetary allowances.
