Job Description

The world still has coverage blind spots. You could help eliminate them at Skylo.

Skylo has pioneered a standards-based approach to satellite connectivity. We connect smartphones and IoT devices directly to satellites. No special hardware, no entirely new networks. Just billions of existing devices, suddenly reachable anywhere on Earth. We're not building toward this future. We're already in it.

Our direct-to-device service is live on millions of activated devices across five continents, covering more than 72 million square kilometers, in partnership with leading satellite operators, mobile network operators, Tier-1 chipset makers, and OEMs worldwide. And we're just getting started.

At the heart of it all is Skylo's commercial NTN vRAN: a 3GPP standards-based, cloud-native platform that seamlessly bridges terrestrial and satellite networks. It's the infrastructure that makes true anywhere, anytime connectivity possible.

When you join Skylo, you'll work at the intersection of three markets reshaping how the world stays connected: mass-market consumer devices, automotive, and industrial IoT. Enabling people outdoors and critical workflows in the world's most remote places.

This is a rare chance to work on technology that matters, at a company that's already proving it works

This role can be performed remotely with a preference for candidates located in Mountain View, CA, where we are onsite three days per week.

Summary Of How You Will Impact Skylo

The Manager, Strategic Finance will be a key thought partner to leadership, bringing rigorous financial modeling and long-range strategic thinking to the decisions that shape Skylo’s future. This role sits outside the FP&A day-to-day and is oriented toward special projects, forward-looking analysis, and helping the company make better decisions in ambiguous, high-stakes situations. The ideal candidate is deeply analytical, comfortable with complexity, and can translate financial insight into clear strategic narrative.

Role and Responsibilities

Long-Range Planning and Strategic Modeling

  • Build and own long-range financial models that forecast multi-year revenue, unit economics, and investment scenarios across Skylo’s core verticals.

  • Model strategic alternatives and simulate how key business decisions (pricing, partnerships, market entry, capacity investment) affect long-term outcomes.

  • Maintain and evolve scenario planning tools that allow leadership to pressure-test strategy under different market conditions.

Special Projects and Strategic Analysis

  • Support ad hoc strategic work, including capital raises, M&A, and other high-impact initiatives, providing financial modeling and analytical support as needed.

  • Evaluate strategic partnership and commercial deal structures, assessing financial impact, risk, and trade-offs to support executive decision-making.

  • Build and maintain competitive landscaping frameworks and surface white-space opportunities relevant to Skylo’s growth.

Executive and Board Reporting

  • Lead the development of strategic materials for the Board of Directors and investors, translating complex operational data into clear, compelling narratives.

  • Prepare executive-level presentations, investment briefs, and strategic summaries that distill complex analysis into actionable insight.

  • Partner with FP&A on select outputs (board packages, quarterly reviews) where strategic framing is essential.

Experience and Requirements

Experience:

  • 5+ years in strategic finance, investment banking, private equity, management consulting, FP&A or comparable analytical role.

  • Demonstrated strength in financial modeling, including building models from scratch, stress-testing assumptions, and communicating outputs clearly.

  • Experience working on special projects or cross-functional initiatives with senior stakeholders.

  • Background in satellite, aerospace, deep tech, or a technically complex industry is strongly preferred. Candidates with a strong understanding of complex hardware/software systems and long development cycles will be prioritized.

  • Prior experience at a high-growth, venture-backed startup (Series A through C) is advantageous.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.

  • MBA from a top-tier institution is preferred, but not required for candidates with exceptional analytical track records.

Skills:

  • Exceptional financial modeling skills including three-statement models, scenario analysis, DCF, and sensitivity testing, with a strong command of accounting principles.

  • Strong strategic thinking and analytical capabilities, with the ability to translate insights into actionable plans.

  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and build rapport at all levels.

  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines.

  • Self-starter with a proactive attitude and a strong sense of ownership.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a dynamic team in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
